Anyone any ideas? I've read Wintersmith so many times I can just about quote bits by heart & it's too soon to re-read all the others

not a clue
but my money is on a development of the mine and the Device last seen at the end of Thud

belgo · 18/04/2007 18:56

In the three years since I've had children, I'm about 8 or more books behind -I have a lot of catching up to do!

Am currently reading 'Wee Free Men' and it's fab.

ViscountessPetitLapin · 18/04/2007 18:58

Making Money , due out in October.

belgo · 18/04/2007 18:59

Greebo, you've got a little while to wait.

stitch · 18/04/2007 19:00

didnt like wintersmith very much.
he repeated a lot of stuff, which was necessayr if you were new to the discworld, but as a huge fan, was sooooo repetitive.
id like somemore about carrot and angua.
or, more about witches, but differnt ones. amd sooo tired of nanny ogg.

fryalot · 18/04/2007 19:00

If you order it from Amazon, you get it ON THE DAY it is released.

Have had mine pre-ordered for about a month now.

MrsBadger · 18/04/2007 19:00

doh, forgot about that one, was looking for the next...

stitch · 18/04/2007 19:01

ooo, that sounds good, i really liked moist.

ViscountessPetitLapin · 18/04/2007 19:01

LOL greebo, didn't notice your nickname, like it!

GreebosWhiskers · 19/04/2007 10:37

Roll on October! I quite liked Moist too but the Watch are my faves - I think I'm at least halfway in love with Sam Vimes lol. I even bought Where's My Cow? picture book at the same time as Thud! & pretended that it was for my then tiny dd. I'd love to see what happens next with Carrot & Angua & apparently there's going to be at least one more Rincewind book too. Discworld are the only books I fork out for in hardback - anything else I can wait 'til it comes out in paperback.

have you tried Mrs Colon's Genyooin Klatchian Curry?

motherinferior · 19/04/2007 11:23

The Inferiorettes request Where's My Cow at bedtime.

GreebosWhiskers · 19/04/2007 11:24

Not yet - I did make slumpie one time & it was disastrous I just accepted that I'm not much of a cook & had fun reading the notes on etty-ket instead. I might have a go at a strawberry wobbler sometime tho'

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of MM... I thought Thud! was quite poor by PTerry's standards, but then I'm starting to feel a little bored by the Watch.

(who now expects to be shot for the heresy of being fed up of the Watch)

Until 2 years i'd never had any inclination
of reading Pratchett.

My other half then showed me the light

I read Colour of Magic first & was instantly hooked. Thought Thud was Ace & I agree totally with the person who has a soft spot for Sam Vimes, I too am an admirer

Going Postal is my favourite to date, but I have to admit I have many books of his huge back catalouge to get through. Love the Nac Mac Feegels and Mr Pump.

Adorabelle · 20/04/2007 21:30

I also brought Where's My Cow saying to dh
it was to read to our LO.

Thankfully she does like me reading it to her, but it wouldn't have made a difference if she hadn't!

agnesnitt · 23/04/2007 00:14

I have just tried to find all my Pratchett... Most of it is missing!

About three quarters of my books are AWOL, and considering I own everything but the last two Tiffany Aching books, that's a lot of missing Discworld!

I have actually met Terry Pratchett.

Miserable bugger.

Had jacket potato for lunch, but was very monosyllabic.

agnesnitt · 23/04/2007 16:28

I've met him a couple of times at signings and he's been lovely. In incredible pain with arm cramps the first time granted, but he was still marvellous.

am loving these names, btw, and wishing I'd thought of a pratchett themed name for myself when I joined!

You always lend out your best books. If I had every book I'd actually lent to others, I would have every Pratchett book twice. At least.

agnesnitt · 23/04/2007 16:52

That's the thing, I have only ever lent out one so have only had to replace one. I am sure they'll turnip when they feel like it.

I thought the Hogfather was great. Susan and Teatime were extremely good actors. The actor who played Rincewind was a bit of a disappointment.
It's made me want to read the book again.

fryalot · 23/04/2007 17:14

I thought the hogfather was fab, I was just a bit disappointed that I couldn't find the blardy book beforehand to catch up before I watched it.

And dp asking stoopid questions didn't exactly help either "how can death be alive?" and "how can death have a grand-daughter?"

In the end, I sent him to bed

agnesnitt · 23/04/2007 17:21

I missed it

Need to buy the dvd methinks.
