Any other Pullman fans excited?! Waterstones called me at 530 to say it was in, I can't wait to get back into Pullmans universe again.

Finished and loved it!

If any of you have got a view on how this book differs (in terms of content/darkness) for kids from the original trilogy, please pop over to the children's book page and share your opinions.

I didn't love the Northern lights, but my DD did, and she has been desperate for this book for months, but I'm now worried it is much too old for her. I saw somewhere it was give an age recommendation of 14+ ! She is a very advanced reader, and does read much higher than her chronological age, but I do not let her read teenage materials. So, any thoughts on the content, and, for example, if the darkness is more threat than graphic or explicit detail, then that would be massively helpful.

I haven't read it yet - I'm tempted to listen to the R4 recording. Should I re-read the trilogy first?

No need to reread His Dark Materials before this one although I may reread them now! Gets you back into the wonderfulness of Phillip Pullmans writing.

I did start to reread them and was part way through when it came out, but there isn't any need to.

Finished. I'll pop on over to the other thread.

I reread His Dark Materials beforehand, it was great to revisit but no need to if you havent read them already or want to get cracking on with TBoD.
