Crime/Mystery authors

Hi. I love a good crime mystery but there's so much choice out there! Who to read next?! If you also love this genre then please give me your recommendations of your favourite author. Thanks!

Loads of great authors already mentioned by PPs, but I also love a bit of Golden Age crime. Obviously Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers etc, but also:

Patricia Wentworth (Miss Silver stories)
Anthony Gilbert (Mr Crook stories)
Ethel Lina White
Gladys Mitchell (Mrs Bradley stories)

Also Raymond Chandler and John D MacDonald.

Peter James - Roy Grace series are very readable
