Hi all, am I in the right place to pick your brains for recommendations? DS is pretty well read, and has moved on to some non-YA books-Poirot, a bit of (less scary) Stephen King- are there any series out there I may have missed for him? Thanks very much!

Stephen King suggestions ace, I forget he wrote great stories as well as scary stuff!

Curious Incident he loved, ditto Book Thief (me too!!)

Others great suggestions, thanks! In fact I have a box set of All Creatures I bought from Book People a while back as I loved reading them at school.

In fact, have just recalled loving the James Bond books at secondary school too-so much so that I recall hiding under the blankets with a torch to read them! They might be good...

I also loved Poldark, think he might find those slightly less appealing...Grin

If he wants a long series then I remember reading some of Brian Jacques 'Redwall' series as a teenager.

We (he had a theme going when trump was elected). I will have a look for the rest (1984 was a favourite).

15 y/o dd here, my number one recommendation right now if he hasn't read it would be The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.

Non YA - dd reads a fair amount of sci-fi - over the last year or so new-ish books I can think of that she's read include the Cixin Liu trilogy (Three-body problem + sequels), Long Way To A Small Angry Planet + sequel, Ancillary Justice trilogy, yy to Ready Player One, Dark Eden plus sequels.

Brilliant , thanks so much will check those out!

Love the Trump theme...we (DH and I ) have just started watching Black Mirror. Scarily prescient isn’t it?! Like all the best sci-fi I guess.
