I've recently go into reading psychological thrillers and just wondered if anyone can recommend one to read.

I've just read Liar by K L Slater. I enjoyed it - good twist at the end, too. I don't think her writing's perfect but it's okay enough to carry you along.

Pibplob · 31/08/2017 11:12

Have you read 'behind closed doors' by BA Paris? That's good.

ImperialBlether · 31/08/2017 11:18

Did you think so, Pib? I thought it was awful! I didn't think any woman in the country would behave how that woman did.

IVFNewbie · 31/08/2017 11:30

'See Jane Run' by Joy Fielding. A cracker. Also Nicci French's standalone books (not the more recent Freida Klein series which aren't as good IMO), also 'I let You Go' by Clare Mackintosh. Harlan Coben can be good although they do get repetitive after you've done a few. Linwood Barclay too. Have fun!

IVFNewbie · 31/08/2017 11:31

P.s. I like Behind Closed Doors, but her latest one is better.

AWendyAteMyFitbit · 31/08/2017 11:55

Talking to the Dead - Helen Dunmore
Lie With Me - Sabine Durrant
Last Seen - Luck Clarke

All read over the summer and recommended (!)

ShanghaiDiva · 31/08/2017 12:00

Black widow - Chris brookmyre.

redfragglebiker · 31/08/2017 12:04

The Alex Cross books are rather good.

AWendyAteMyFitbit · 31/08/2017 12:28

Lucy Clarke ffs autocorrect.

KoolKoala07 · 31/08/2017 12:36

The breakdown by ba Paris. Really enjoyed it.

Illhavewhatsheshaving · 31/08/2017 12:38

Anything by Dean koontz. House of thunder is really good and strangers

Pennina · 31/08/2017 14:26

Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney is a good read.

Pibplob · 31/08/2017 15:45

I did really enjoy it! Will have to try and get hold of the newest book too.

loveka · 01/09/2017 18:32

All the Sabine Durrant are brilliant!

Optimist1 · 01/09/2017 19:25

Have to agree with Imperial about Behind Closed Doors - it was recommended to me, but I found the characters' behaviour very unlikely.

A Suitable Lie by Michael J Malone was excellent, IMHO, but the subject matter is domestic violence (not graphic). An interesting take on perpetrators and their victims.

I See You by Clare Mackintosh was gripping, too.

Thanks for your replies. I've been busy but am going to check them out and certainly buy some.

Any other suggestions still welcome as read every day!

The best thriller I have read recently is In the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes.

tobee · 06/09/2017 17:48

Sorry to hijack but I'm looking for one that isn't about a couple, not a straightforward man psyching out his partner or vice versa iyswim. Anything?

holdthewine · 11/09/2017 21:47

I just finished "He said, she said" by Erin Kelly, just the right level of psychological for me, clever and I didn't see it developing as it did. I hadn't read her before but will again.

PeralMePots · 11/09/2017 22:13

The Other Typist is really interesting with a mysterious ending.

plantsitter · 11/09/2017 22:15

In The Blood by Lisa Unger is good.

OCSockOrphanage · 16/09/2017 17:05

Minette Walters is brilliant but hasn't published anything new for ages.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 19/09/2017 19:11

Another vote for "Sometimes I Lie" by Alice Feeney.

Going back in time, a P D James book that doesn't feature Adam Dalgliesh, "Innocent Blood" (NB references to murder of a child, may be triggering).

needtimewithwineandlesswhine · 19/09/2017 19:21

The girl in cabin 10 by Ruth ware - just finished and loved it!

Clawdy · 19/09/2017 19:45

The Burning Air by Erin Kelly is brilliant. I'm pretty good at spotting twists, but not this one!
