I like chick lit. Love Marian Keyes, Sophie Kinsella et al but have all of those.

I can't put anything by Jodi Picoult down!

cardy · 26/03/2007 11:15

Anything by Emily Barr - Out of My Depth, her most recent is good. Enjoy the journey, a chance to have peace and quite and read sounds lovely!

kels666 · 26/03/2007 11:55

Polly Williams - The Rise and Fall of a Yummy Mummy - Fab and a bit more intelligent than the average chick lit

Twinkie1 · 26/03/2007 11:56

The new Marian Keyes one is great - Anybody out there - made me cry though!!

sockmonkey · 26/03/2007 12:07

I am reading the Anybody out there book. I keep thinking just one more chapter until the kids are late for nursery or haven't been fed. Really enjoying it.

Katie Long...Bad mothers handbook...sounds like a predictable new mummy book but isnt...best chicklit book ive read recently. Not as trashy as some.

christie1 · 27/03/2007 21:22

I am reading nick hornby's A Long Way Down, it's funny and an easy read.

ChasingRabbits · 27/03/2007 21:24

Jodi Picoult - My Sisters Keeper

powder28 · 27/03/2007 21:33

The Dirty Bits For Girls by india knight.

madamez · 30/03/2007 21:57

Probably too late for your train trip but Fiona Walker's Kiss Chase is great. Also agree with THBM about Kate Long, and if you want something wit ha bit more welly, try Liza Cody's Gimme More. Or any of Jilly Cooper's big books, they're all fun.

glassslipper · 30/03/2007 21:57

i like anything by fiona walker

Jessicatmagnificat · 31/03/2007 09:43

Try Caro Fraser. Not many people seem to have heard of her. She writes a lot of novels set in the legal world, great intrigues, lots of love affairs and bed hopping, but all done intelligently - gripping stuff.

JimJammum · 31/03/2007 21:23

The Time TRaveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger (great name!!!!) - it's quite intense (ie not a chick-lit bit of froth) but a fab story.

the lost art of keeping secrets by Eva Rice - brilliant!

Sunyshineymummy · 01/04/2007 20:04

The Insider by Piers Morgan. Totally brilliant.

DimpledThighs · 01/04/2007 20:11

I didn't like bad mothers handbook = what about no1 ladies detective agency - not harrowing and a wonderful pace of life.

MrsFish · 01/04/2007 20:11

Another thumbsup for 'The Time travellers Wife' loved it, did make me sob my heart out though, wouldn't want to read it in public

JoanCrawford · 01/04/2007 20:13

A bit out of date now but I recently read Notes on a Scandal. Haven't seen the film but thought it was a great read.

And you'd manage it in 3 hours.
