Megan Abbott is an award-winning writer of contemporary crime fiction and these three books are bound to have you up all night.

Lizzie and Evie are inseparable - until Evie goes missing, and Lizzie suddenly realizes their friendship wasn't quite what she thought. The End of Everything is a suspenseful novel of friendship, loss and the more sinister side of adolescence.

There's something dangerous about the boredom of teenage girls - Coach said that once. She said it like she knew, and understood. Dare Me tells the dark and tension-filled story of the new cheerleading coach and the deadly game she's playing.

When Lise Daniels collapses to the floor during maths class, unfortunately she's not the first. As hysteria swells in The Fever, the safe world they've been building for their children starts to come apart.

We ask all winners to share their thoughts about the book(s) on this discussion thread. Everyone who gives detailed feedback on the thriller of their choice by end of day, Friday 29 September will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 Love2shop voucher.

Just started dare me, really enjoying it! I have a feeling I will have to buy the rest of the set.

FernieB · 22/08/2017 13:45

Just finished 'Dare Me' (thanks MN) - a real page turner, I read it in one day. As another poster said, it was a little slow in parts, but a thrilling tale all the same. The characters seemed a bit one dimensional and weren't particularly interesting themselves but the author kept the up the suspense.

girlsmum · 22/08/2017 14:31

Have received my copy - thank you.

Looking forward to starting tonight 📚

cordelia16 · 22/08/2017 14:39

Rae1000 · 22/08/2017 15:00

Hi there, just want to let you know that I received my copy of Dare Me on Monday so I am not one you need to chase up. I haven't started it yet but will be sure to soon. Thanks

FlowerTink · 22/08/2017 19:31

shelaghh · 23/08/2017 12:06

The book is centred on American high -school cheerleading and a subsequent murder. Once teenager's have let " THE SEXUAL GENIE out of the Bottle."-- Anything can happen -"AND IT DOES ".

Received my copy of Dare Me a week or so ago and started to read it last night - I am hooked! Am about a quarter of the way through already. It's a very atmospheric book, you feel you are right there in an American high school - but also its a page turner. I read a lot of thrillers and consequently can often see where things are going but I can't predict with this one. So pleased I won this.

clairethewitch70 · 23/08/2017 15:44

Still not received mine.

IckleWicklePumperNickle · 23/08/2017 21:16

I have started reading Dare me and do far it's brilliant.

Takes me back to the kind of books I use to read in my teenage years.

StitchesInTime · 23/08/2017 23:22

I've received my copy of Dare Me, thanks, and am looking forward to starting reading it soon.

Royalsteph · 23/08/2017 23:45

I received a copy of Dare Me.
This is a completely different genre to what I normally read.
I didn't rate the book very much and found it hard to get into. I picked it up and put it down several times. I had to force myself to read it, if only to get to the end. It was very confusing in places and quite hard to follow the story. I won't be reading another book from this author as I found her writing style quite wishy washy.

lesley37 · 24/08/2017 09:05

Haven't received mine yet.

First I must thank Mumsnet for the opportunity to read 'Dare Me'. Though unfortunately I didn't enjoy it. If I hadn't felt obliged, for reviewing purposes, I would have given up within the first 50 pages. I simply found it heavy going, and if it's an accurate portrayal of the sheer nastiness of American teen culture, god help us. None of the protagonists had redeeming characteristics, and they came over as shallow and vindictive or weak and trodden on. Added to which the odd personal relationship that 'the coach' has with the youngsters, surely allowing anorexic athletes to drink to excess is hardly normal or a good role model, and as the story line progresses, it would seem terminally stupid. But in the end they don't get the punishment they deserve, all apart from the poor long suffering husband .

starlight36 · 24/08/2017 17:23

Thank you for the book.
I read this over two evenings and found it an easy read. It initially felt like I was reading a more grown-up 'Sweet Valley High' book and struggled initially with the style. even questioning whether I'd mistakenly applied for a YA book. However as I read more I found the story quite compelling and kept on reading to finish the book and find out the outcome. The glossary right at the back of the book was pretty helpful in translating some of the American terms used - if the publishers see the thread it might be worthwhile moving that forward to the front of the book for future editions.
I would class my reading experience as a bit of a guilty pleasure and would probably read another Megan Abbott book.

wolfmom · 25/08/2017 14:12

Just received my copy of "The End of Everything" I'm looking forward to settling down to read it as the first few pages appear well written. I will be honest this is not a book that would have grabbed my attention just by the cover. Will add more as I read it.

Lariflete · 25/08/2017 15:10

Have just received mine today, thank you! Will start reading it later.

BetterEatCheese · 25/08/2017 15:31

Just received The end of Everything- looks great, can't wait to start

FlowerTink · 25/08/2017 16:31

I received mine today too thank you - looking forward to starting it!

CheckpointCharlie2 · 25/08/2017 19:24

Received The End of Everything and have read a bit this afternoon.
It's quite intense and i have to reread bits to make sure I've got the meaning IYSWIM. It's hard to explain but there are lots of off the wall descriptions of things, how the main character feels and stuff which don't quite make sense to me yet.

Apart from getting used to that, I like it so far though and I like the bright neon cover too!

Sallychaffe · 25/08/2017 20:37

Dare Me
I wish I had read the notes at the back first as it would have given me more insight to the book.
I took a while to get into it . The story seemed very jerky and just made me feel very uncomfortable . I was a teenage girl a long time ago, thankfully I wasn't so angst ridden. Would a Coach no matter how messed up she was have given her "team" alcohol and those diets they were on were not compatible with all that training and the "tight" bodies.Would the overworked desolute husband have stood for all those drunken girls taking over his home and who was looking after Caitlin?
It did give me an insight into cheerleaders.
I did finally enjoy it, maybe I am just too old.

lovetheweekends · 26/08/2017 09:27

Received my copy of:- The End of Everything yesterday and look forward to reading it.

starlight36 · 26/08/2017 09:52

Oops - just realised I hadn't named the book I read. I read 'Dare Me' and comments posted previously obviously refer to it. Not used to there being multiple books on one thread.

muddypuddled · 26/08/2017 09:56

I'm reading 'dare me'. I'm struggling to get in to it though to be honest. I feel quite uncomfortable with the links to body image and how the young girls all need to slim down and have 'tight' bodies but maybe that's going somewhere?
