I am absolutely devouring these!
I've just finished book 4 and couldn't put any of them down!

Anyone else a fan?

OH god! Just finished book 7 - that got very very dark! Shock :(

Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffft

Finished book 8. Wow. That was heavy going!
Which leaves me with the short stories and then waiting for the next one.

Anyone know when it's out?

I have loved this series SO much!

The short stories are great fun. Roman Holiday is possibly my favourite - laugh out loud funny in places.

TTOF · 30/04/2017 14:20

I'm going to really have to try and savour them. 😬

They are fabulous. There's a really good Facebook group with offshoots to discuss the most recent releases.
Jodi Taylor's other books are also very good. The nothing girls and the something girl.
And the one written. Bitchface Barclay. Love them.

I love these too - read the last one and then started at the beginning again! Also really enjoyed the Nothing Girl and The Something Girl. Excited about her new series- anyone know any more details??

Number 8 done and dusted. Amazon has number 9 scheduled for 8th June, but that seems a bit soon!

Ceto · 01/05/2017 11:49

I enjoy them, but I get a bit puzzled about when they can and cannot get directly involved in the action. I would have thought that if they want to avoid disturbing the timeline they absolutely cannot ever get involved in, for instance, fighting, but they seem to do it quite regularly.

HarrietVane99 · 01/05/2017 13:24

They manage to get in the way of the fighting quite often, but they don't actually join in on one side or the other, to they? They're more usually trying to get away.

It was established in the first book that if they do look like doing something that would affect the timeline, History will stop them. Decisively and permanently.

TTOF · 01/05/2017 13:33

Presumably as they don't kill anyone their actions when they accidentally get involved in battles/ scuffles etc are inconsequential to the time line?

dontcallmebaby - I saw that too about book 9 but I think it might just be a collection of the short stories and then one more new one?
I'd love it to be a proper full length story that will wrap up all the many loose ends and have a happy ending too! (I don't want much) Grin

I'm thinking of the one where they're present at the first initial crossing of the seas to populate somewhere or other, and get involved in saving some of the people who are crossing. Shouldn't that mean that people who would not otherwise have survived do survive?

Dilemma2017 · 01/05/2017 14:13

I think that's the point with that event Ceto. I read it as they in effect started the spread of humanity.

GreenHillsSunnySkies · 01/05/2017 14:24

I loved the first three then I got a bit 'meh' with it, struggled with 4 and effectively have 5 on the go for when I haven't got something better to read/do. I think it's because I'm feeling a bit strung along by the convenient plot devices that are effectively just spinning out the original premise i.e. she's just milking it now. It's like a favourite tv series that go a season or two beyond what should be a natural conclusion if you know what I mean.

I think Mrs Partridge, via Dr Bairstow, sometimes gives things a nudge, so that they happen the way they're supposed to. There's been more than one occasion where she's given Max a hint about something.
