The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) would like you - the real parenting experts - to help them improve their coverage of the vast vocabulary of pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting.

From TTC to baby-led-weaning, the language of pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting is as diverse as the opinions parents hold about these topics. And it’s changing, reflecting not only medical advances, but also developments in how we think about children and parenting.

Many such terms are relatively recent, and don’t appear in dictionaries - the OED is keen to capture them. So we're asking Mumsnetters to submit any pregnancy, childbirth, or parenting term that they think is important and which is not yet in OED Online (Search the OED for free). We'd like to hear about brand new words and new senses of familiar words.

All your suggestions will go through a process of assessment for inclusion in the dictionary, and the first additions will be published online in December 2017.

Twunt- not a word used frequently, but if we're annoyed with one another, we use that to convey all is not well.

Threenager and a Tween

Crunchy Mum - very laid back, BF, cloth nappies, baby led weaning, just very eco. Attachment parenting, so cuddles as soon as crying, co-sleeping. SAHM. More babies the better.

Scrunchy Mum - In between both

Silky Mum - Bottle fed, jar fed, controlled sleeping / sleep training, ignores crying, returns to work, baby in nursery.

maternity leave is there, but not the shortening to mat leave

popper, n. 8 doesn’t have any baby-related definitions (though baby clothes have many poppers…)

oh, and stay at home mum or stay at home dad – instead of 'housewife' or 'househusband'

Milk-drunk - the very relaxed state a young baby goes into following a feed
Kangaroo-care - similar to skin-to-skin, strapping baby to parents' chest, under clothes (like in a kangaroo pouch), used especially with low-weight babies to help maintain healthy body temperature.
NICU - really surprised this isn't in here, SCBU is! Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Hypnobirthing - a style of birthing education programme which teaches simple self-hypnosis, relaxation and breathing techniques for a calmer and better birth.

Baby Cage - playpen
BFP - Big fat positive , in relation to pregnancy test
BFN - Big Fat No, in relation to pregnancy test.
AF - Auntie flow
BLW - baby lead weaning
OPK - ovulation prediction kit
BD - Baby Dance
EBF - Exclusively breast fed
Tandem breast feeding - either pregnant whilst breastfeeding or feeding 2 kids or more
MC - miscarriage
mmc - missed miscarriage
FT - full term

The witching hour. time between around 4.30 and 6pm when your baby is very grumpy and just won't settle.

Deja Spew - when your baby has thrown up yet again, requiring another change of clothes.

Milk-Drunk is one the Crunchy Mums like to use a lot. Christopher's been at my breasts 30 minutes and finished, here's a picture of milk drunk baby. Basically a baby that looked sated after a 'meal!'

Baby shower - US thing where Mums eek out presents from mates by having a party just because they're pregnant

TTC - Trying to conceive

CD - Cycle date

OPK - Ovulation predictor kit

2WW - 2 week wait after ovulation, hoping for positive result

Dildoscan - Internal vaginal scan

Hypnobirthing - trying to deliver baby with no drugs

Sure some of these must have been used.

Babyreflux - same as adult GERD/reflux but in a baby

Me time - time set aside for fellow Mummies to have free time for a drink with friends, and/or beauty sessions

DC - dear child / dear children

Bumshuffle - a way for babies move in between crawling and walking

Babymoon - Last holiday before baby is born. To get out and not be stuck waiting for me time

FTM - First time Mother, perceived for medical purposes to be a woman who over is possibly overthinking things.

FTP - First time parents

Baby Led Weaning - Baby leading the way with feeding

Play dates - meetings arranged between child carers with other child carers to enable children to interact one to one.

Zumbie - a mother so sleep deprived she's walking around like a zombie.

I thought of another one –baby weight (as in, the weight you gain when you are pregnant).

The Witching Hour - that time in early evening when your toddler is fractious but apparently Not Tired Yet.

(I am past the need for children's books but DSs school is setting up a library in a school in Malawi)

Clogger - child blogger, possibly pretentious & boastful.
Mombie - mother who's zombie like because they're extremely tired & their brain isn't working properly.
Duff-up - suspenseful belly tickles - noisy & wriggly!
BTR (bum, tuck & run) text speak for unruly behaviour caused by over-tiredness, that's making you pull your hair out. Taken from dog behaviour where they tuck their tail, lower their bum and run back & forwards, out of control because they're overtired (a puppy tantrum).

Rainbow baby - baby born after death of an older sibling.

Tsunappy - similar to poonami.

Tiger Mum.
