Introducing Giant - a feel-good children's book about growing up and being yourself. We gave away 50 copies of the book to find out what Mumsnetters thought.

It's hard to measure up in a family with high expectations. But it's even harder when those people sometimes use you as an arm rest.

Anzo is 11 years old and very, very short. His family are all extremely tall but they're also high achievers, obsessed with fulfilling their lifelong ambition of opening a restaurant together. Everyone seems to have a role – chef, DIY, marketing, accounts – but Anzo's not sure where he fits in. Then, one night he starts to grow - but is life as a giant going to solve all his problems?

We ask all Giant book giveaway winners to share their child's thoughts about the book on this discussion thread. Everyone who gives detailed feedback by midday, Wednesday 5 April will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 Love2shop voucher:

Thankyou for the email reminding me about this, I was only thinking yesterday that I needed to try and find this thread again so that I could comment, so the email saved me a job!

This book was LOVED in our house, our favourite character was Elise and I wish every child had Elise for a friend!

I think that the book is very powerful and it explores a subject that isnt normally discussed, the pressure to succeed when all who go before you have done really well for themselves. I think its a good age group to target with this subject, as hopefully it will set them up ready before they experience it.

We have already read it twice since receiving it, and I plan to look for more books by this author as an easter gift

My ten year old really enjoyed the book, read over 3 days, it really engaged her. I am going to read it myself as she says you're short and will find it funny 😉

Anzo is small and spends his life being ignored by his eccentric family and bullied by school mates. Everyone calls him Peanut and he's been cast as all seven dwarves in a production of Snow White. He thinks that if he can just grow taller, everything will change for the better and he will finally be able to be seen by people. With the help of his best friend he finds that he can and does grow taller, but it just swaps one set of problems for another. This is a wonderfully entertianing book about growing taller and growing up.

I am reading Giant to my 8 year old son. We are both enjoying it, it is written in a more mature style than a lot of books for this age group yet still easy to read and understand. It deals with issues that are very much reality for children in today's busy life. My son and I empathise with Anzo, the main character, who's family don't have time for him in their busy lives. I find this part of the story a little reminder to listen to my children and recognise their abilities and interest. Fortunately for Anzo he has Elise, a sensible positive thinking friend, who recognises his talents and helps him to fight the barriers stopping him from realising his dream.

All in all an entertaining children's book that deals with important issues in a light hearted way. The author keeps the chapters short for younger readers.

My nine year old daughter seized this as soon as it arrived and has been enjoying it so much. She is extremely tall compared to the rest of us, so while this is about a small boy with a very tall family, it somehow really resonates with her so far. I also think the colour and imagery on the cover makes it extremely appealing.

Well written and perfect for my son. He read it in a couple of days and said he really enjoyed it.

My dd started this and then put it to one side: she said she couldn't get into it. But then she went bsck to it and said sheer loved it! She thought it was really funny and send to have taken on board some positive messages. A winner!
