Can you recommend me a SK book which isn't a horror?

I read The Green Mile when it game out as a series.

I loved both Stand by me and Shawshank redemption - read neither but watched the films

So is there anything else he has done worth reading which isn't horror?

I didn't enjoy 'IT' at all!

The Talisman is good with Peter Straub about parallel worlds - sorting flipping from one to the other.

geekgrrl · 25/02/2007 19:01

the books he wrote under the pseudonym Richard Bachman are v. good and not something I'd consider horror.

Geralds Game was a good idea that fell short imho

Nadine, then you should also read Black House with Peter Straub. The Dark Tower Books will probably float your boat to.

Saturn74 · 25/02/2007 19:03

I just couldn't get into any of the books he wrote jointly with Peter Straub.
Strange as I love most of Stephen King's other novels.

Thanks everyone. Think I'll try The Long Walk first. Will let you know what I think.

That's it, PPB! Thanks!

I read that story in an anthology with three others.

Never, ever read Pet Semetary if you have dc! Shudder.

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon

Not horror and not that long either - for a seasoned SK fan with timeto spare it could be read within the day easily - good for waiting rooms and long journeys.

I paula, I've read that one too

not as good imho
