I started this last night and my initial thoughts are that I'm not keen on the style, but like other posters I am wondering if it is the translation. For example, she needs to water her flowers, but they are plants and gooseflesh instead of goose pimples.

I will finish it though, I'm quite intrigued by the plot.

Sounds like an interesting concept - am already looking forward to finding out what happens!

Although thrillers aren't my favourite genre this is a great read. When Linda spots her sister's murderer on tv she decides to set a trap for him by writing a book called Blood Sisters which is about a woman who is murdered and her killer gets away with it. She gives just one interview and that is to her Sisters killer and the trap is set. An amazing psychological thriller and the way the fictional story Linda writes and the real life story of her sisters killing merge at times is brilliantly done.

loved the plot! great read

The main story is about a journalist who witrnessed her sister being murdered but for 12 years she becomes withdrawn and never leaves her house until she sees the murderer on TV. She then becomes determined to bring him to account. There is a lot of suspense in the book and it felt well-written in the main. Quite a lot of twists and turns. The plot was very interesting but I'm not sure I found it all entirely 'believable'. Generally enjoyed it though.

I enjoyed this book but felt it needed a degree of concentration to follow the storyline (which isn't actually a bad thing!). I liked how the excerpts from the novel that Linda was writing intercepted the story - a suspenseful and gripping plot.

I bought and read this book on a recommendation online. It was gripping and intense. Very cleverly written in that it had me on the edge of my seat and i felt every emotion with Linda. Loved the twists and turns in the story too!

This is translated from German and I felt the writing never really comes alive. There's an awful lot of padding here as reclusive Linda narrates all the minutiae of her life. The book perks up a bit when she meets the murderer - only we soon find out she's not really meeting him yet, these are just her imaginings of how things might go...

At the heart of the book is the well-worn cliche that Linda never really knew her sister - and the climax made me laugh rather than feel any tension or suspense. At the end Linda's publisher says of the book-within-the-book that it's a romance dressed up as a thriller and the same could be said of this.

Others have clearly loved this but I'm afraid this book left me cold.
