The pact was awful. I quite liked the one that was a rip off of "The Crucible" but not enough to remember what it was called. Won't bother reading any more of hers as they seem very samey.

Mumpbump · 16/02/2007 16:14

I haven't read any of her books because the subjects are all so mobid, but she sounds as though she's as repetitive and predictable as John Grisham...

Mumpbump · 16/02/2007 16:15

PS - I keep thinking of buying one, so thanks for saving me my cash!!

J20BABY · 16/02/2007 16:21

keeping faith is quite good, but i agree the others are crap

Twinkie1 · 16/02/2007 16:23

JP on the cover is a secret code for CRAP Novel IMO - have read all of her books and they left me feeling quite empty - well thats a lie the one about the little girl beig killed made me feel like leaping out of my office 5th floor window - knew there was a good reason why they were welded shut!!

TinyGang · 16/02/2007 16:33

When you meet up with the book group again are you allowed to be brutally honest even if everyone else loves it or do you have to be super tactful about someone elses choice?

(I couldn't get on with The Pact either btw. Didn't get past the first few pages)

Tiny Gang

I only got past the first few pages this time because I had to.

It is a first ever BC meeting so I am sure we will we dancing around each other politely for the first few months.

lazyline · 16/02/2007 20:22

I gave it away it was so bad. Utter toss. But yet I read till the end. Nobbins.

All her books are the same IMO.

RosaLuxembourg · 17/02/2007 00:07

I think I have read all of her books. When I have finished them I feel slightly sick and guilty, like I have done something very wrong and am afraid people will find out.

bubbles2904 · 20/02/2007 16:32

i must ber a rare breed, or just have completely crap[ taste, i loved my sisters keeper and perfect match, was going to read the pact next but not sure now

ledodgy · 20/02/2007 16:45

It is shite isn't it? the other one wasn't much cop either can't rememebr what it was called the one where the girl's sister was ill stupid bloody ending.

mummytosteven · 20/02/2007 22:16

lol Rosa - I know what you mean, they have a love/hate intense quality to them, like eating a big chocolate fudge cake all in one go

Walnutshell · 20/02/2007 22:55

Ohgod, don't post this - OK, I am...
Agree Rosa and mummytosteven. Yes, big ole choc cake. With fudge topping. Have read lots by JP (spit, spit) and can't help but buy them for the a)cheap in Tesco's factor and b)easy read soap opera factor. But still find my snobbish inner inner self hiding them at the back of the bookcase. Not that there's necessarily anything at the front of my bookcase to shout about, but you get my drift. Even the author photo bugs me. Why am I contibuting to this person writing yet more? Must go back to the library and stay away from Tesco's poxy book aisle. Damnit.

Walnutshell · 20/02/2007 22:56

And (oh no, shut up) I didn't mind Plain Truth too much (where's the duct tape?).

Idiot.

paulaplumpbottom · 21/02/2007 13:32

All of her books are just the same. They all have the same boring courtroom ending. I was in the hospital awhile back and was given all of her books. It was the same over and over again.

AnneJones · 22/02/2007 14:15

The one 'based' on The Crucible is called Salem Falls. I read My Sister's Keeper and it was light but nicely done and passed the time nicely. Salem Falls was also a relaxing easy read but very formulaic.

Quite similar to Anita Shreve IMHO.

As long as you aren't expecting great literature or tight plots, they're ok.
