So December will be all about Christmas books. But as it's October what would you recommend for some seasonal spooky fiction?

I second M R James. I always dip into his stories this time of year.

Novel-wise The Loney is a spooky read.

I might read Salems lot, I remember the film and that scared me, I was quite young though! I remember my Dad telling me he'd read the book "Alien" and it really did unnerve him (he doesn't scare easily), he also said that the film was rubbish compared to the book.

I agree about Adam Neville - extremely disturbing, stuff of nightmares and I'm a seasoned horror fan. For well-written, spooky, I'd go for Jonathan Aycliffe. Dark Matter is also good

Edgar Allen Poe. I read him while eating some Edgar Allen Pie Grin

Any of his stories are bum-clenchingly scary. The Masque of the Red Death scares me rigid!

The Vincent Price film of The masque of the Red Death freaked me out when I was young, fab film, love VP.

Edgar Allen Pie, that's amazing!
