You might have heard how the universe began with the Big Bang? Well, the universe as Jim Wimple knows it is about to end. With a Bazoom!

This hilarious tale follows Jim's realisation that his dad might be Death himself. We're giving away 50 copies of Jim Reaper: Son of Grim by Rachel Delahaye, aimed at readers aged 7 - 9. Head to the giveaway page to apply for yours!*

We ask all winners to share their thoughts (and their children's thoughts) about the book on this discussion thread. However, you don't have to win a free copy to take part in the discussion - anyone who has read Jim Reaper: Son of Grim can post their feedback here (and you can buy the book now).

Everyone who posts on this thread before 28 October will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 Love2shop voucher.

Great book kept both my boys wanting to know what will happen next, it was a good book for us all to read together good pictures too

First book that Ds has taken off and read all by himself. Could hear him laughing. So he must have enjoyed it

purplepandas · 27/10/2016 16:30

Definitely a bit hit in our house. A good sense of humour throughout and great illustrations. One that will be re-read. Always a good sign!

My DS is 7 and he borrowed thebook from the library. He said 'I liked it when Jim sneaked into the office and the fact that he wanted a really fast scooter'.

Thumbs up from DS!

First of al, thank you for the book. My son really enjoyed it, he read the whole book without me nagging him to finish it! Pictures were great also. I shall pass it on to another child to enjoy if my son allows me. Lol but I might read it myself first.

My daughters have read both of the Grim Reaper books and they absolutely loved them! Can't wait to read more

truetops · 28/10/2016 11:23

A lively and humorous story that really captured the mind of my 8 year old son. The author understands the thoughts of children of this age group and what really matters to them...having a Bazoom! scooter really is a life or death situation.

There are some descriptive gems "his eye's wide like slices of boiled egg" which gives the young reader a good understanding of the characters. I loved the image of Will's mum with her "top half...buried in the fridge-freezer but she was still managing to dance with her bottom half". Now I have more of an idea of what my son's friends might think of me when they come over for tea!
A real good read, can't wait for the next one.

We have been reading this book at bedtime and both me and my 11 year old son love it. It is really funny and it appeals to my sons sense of humour and had us both laughing out loud in parts. He said he likes the book because it is funny and he said he likes the characters and Dr Who references.

tworonnies1957 · 28/10/2016 20:16

A very funny and well written book It is easy for the kids to read themselves and has great illustrations.

Pompa · 02/11/2016 21:15

My 7 year old found this hilarious. We really enjoyed reading it together and the humour is perfect for this age group. Thank you so much for our copy.

TenaciousOne · 08/11/2016 20:46

We're still working through this book. DS enjoys it but unfortunately has been sidetracked by other books (which contain Pokémon)

GERTA · 14/11/2016 08:51

Its slow reading for me! We are not even halfway through it. I try to read it every night but my kids are not very interested. The story does not appeal to them at all.

agnapoop · 14/12/2016 21:08

My 7 yr old daughter picked this up by herself and read the whole thing. She loved it and is looking forward to reading more by the same author. She found it easy to read and to follow the pictures. Would definitely recommend.

sophieplusone · 23/02/2017 16:53

My 10 year old daughter really enjoyed the book, held her attention and she zoomed through it in no time. Has since read it again and shared it with a friend in class who also enjoyed it.
Thank you for sharing it with us.
