Remember Super Gran? This ordinary gran with extraordinary powers first appeared on our screens in the 80s – and now she's back fighting crime again. Her adventures have been newly depicted with fantastic illustrations from the creator of Elmer, David McKee.

We're giving you and your kids the chance to enjoy the cult children's book - perfect for ages 8+. We've got 50 copies to give away so apply now!

We ask all winners to share their thoughts (and their children's thoughts) about the book on this discussion thread. However, you don't have to win a free copy to take part in the discussion - anyone who has read Super Gran can post their feedback here (and you can buy a copy of the book now).

Everyone who posts on this thread before 7 October will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 Love2shop voucher.

It was nice to receive the Super Gran book. It was also nice to share and hear my daughter reading this book to me. I remember coming across that book as a child myself.....the adventure of Super Gran (and the Oldies!) and her super powers and trying to stop the Toughies. I would like to be zapped as well in order to have some super powers....how cool would that be!!!
That was a lovely book to share and enjoy with my daughter.

What a little lovely treat, combining grandparents with superheroes, I'm not sure my daughter could be more excited, or my son more confused. As we also have autistic and ADHD children it can take us a little longer to get through stories but so far so good. Silly things and pictures keep them engaged. Looking forward to reading the rest of it and writing a full review on the blog. Thank you mumsnet.

Many thanks for Super Gran.. Read this with my 8yr old (well in a few days time) and because she had a vague memory of seeing parts of Gangsta Granny (David Walliams) when the BBC adapted it at Xmas, it really caught her imagination. It reminded me of the Dirty Bertie books which always a great (and funny) book to read before bed. They even put me in a good mood.

At this age I am struggling to get my daughter onto books without pictures, but she seems a tad reluctant, so the fab illustrations smoothed the way. Finding more taxing books which also include pictures is always a plus!

I don't know if my mum (i.e. Our own "Super Gran") was as amused though!

Would happily recommend. Many thanks to all at Mumsnet.

Fantastic book. Such a trip down memory lane, as super gran was the first ever book I bought myself. David McKee illustrations were great. So nice to be able to read with my daughter, who loved it too. Was a real treat.

My daughter really enjoyed this book and found it funny. I loved Super Gran when I was younger too. Good to see she's still on the go!! :)

Many thanks to Mumsnet / Anderson Press for a copy of this book. I half expected a new story, but it is instead the paperback version of the Forrest Wilson children's 'classic' from 1978. Originally released in the same year as the first live-action/colour ‘Superman’ movie, it was clearly a cheeky rip-off of the Man of Steel’s exploits. The central character in this book also has super-strength, super hearing, X-Ray vision. The twist is that it is an ordinary little old lady with the super powers, leading to the most unexpected superhero (super heroine) imaginable. What follows is a series of silly, funny adventures as Granny Smith and her grandson Willard go on the hunt for a crooked inventor. Or more accurately a fraud who’s stolen a super-power-giving machine from a real inventor.

It was great revisiting the exploits of Granny Smith. Incredibly fun, the popularity of the book led to a well-received TV series in the 80’s. And the young readers of today will surely enjoy the story as much as readers did when the book originally hit the bookstores.

Superheroes have never been more popular. The re-release of this book is clearly cashing in on the superhero moolah out there. And why not?

My 8 year old son loved this book .I can remember these characters first
time round and it especially appealed to my son who has a scottish
granny and could relate . The book was full of humour and a good all round giggle.
