A guy called Mark Billingham writes good detective novels. He was a stand up comedian (apparently).
I quite enjoyed Hugh Laurie's book The Gun Seller too but don't like Stephen Fry's novels

I read one of Ben Eltons books and it was like chewing an out of date toffee.

"Now Prisoner X. It's time for your torture. We can either pluck your pubic hairs out one by one with blunt tweezers OR you must read a Ben Elton novel"

"PLUCK! PLUCK! PLEASE PLUCK!!!!"

I've found Sparkle Hayter books in the library but in various sections. 'Naked Brunch' is a good one-off, all about werewolves!

Most stand-up comedians write their own material so they are probably writing all the time they're not performing it (or drinking).

I don't like Stephen Fry's fiction, but I did like his autobiography Moab is My Washpot very much indeed.

Sandi Toksvig I quite liked.

Wanted to read David Baddiel's His Secret Purposes but couldn't get into it. Should I try again?

Kathy Lette I find nauseating.

I love Ben Elton's books
