Have pre-ordered the new Bernard Cornwall for next week, but read a book a day and am away for a fortnight!

Have just finished the outlander books, and loved them. Not impartial to the likes of Jojo Moyes or Jodi Picoult for a holiday.

Anyone read anything great lately?

Do you like Sarah Waters? If so, then I loved Fingersmith. The Paying Guests, also a good one. Long books, which should keep you entertained.

Historical - S J Parris's Giordano Bruno series - starts with Heresy. Really enjoyed these. Similar to C J Sansom's Shardlake books.

The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber, and The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell - both thought provoking, engrossing reads.

Biographies - Not My Father's Son by Alan Cummings, and Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal by Jeannette Winterson. Both fascinating memoirs.

Thrillers - The Girl on the Train - not bad for a quick holiday read. Also, The Murder Bag by Tony Parsons - really enjoyed that too.

Station Eleven for thoughtful post pandemic kinda thing. The Humans by Matt Haig was quite light but good.

Read Fingersmith and loved it.

Read girl on the train, but was intensely irritated by the main character. i think it is a character flaw of mine that I need to have some sympathy for the protagonist.

The others look interesting, will look them up on kindle

Just read 'The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson, special offer in WHS - could not put it down - a real pageturner - so not ideal for real life, but great for a holiday!

The Observations by Jane Harris

Bel Canto by Ann Patchett

A Disobedient Girl by Ru Freeman

Earth and Heaven by Sue Gee

A Company of Liars by Karen Maitland

The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd

Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver

These are a few of my favourites. Have a good holiday Smile

The Tea Planter's Wife by Dinah Jeffries - an engrossing read (on Richard + Judy and ST no. 1) set in 1920s/1903s Ceylon
