I have just seen a thread related to these books I've never heard of which got me interested. Have looked on Amazon and Goodreads and maybe I am being a bit thick, but I just don't seem to 'get' what these books are about?! Can anyone help me out? I understand the gist but people also say these books are complex...

Would people recommend these?! I'm after reading something a bit different but not if these are a bit comical/stupid in parts... Confused

I don't think they are complex either. Fun, time travelling stuff really - nothing heavy.

SoupDragon · 22/09/2015 10:58

I have no idea why anyone would say they are complex.

They see very popular on here, but they (the first one anyway) are not complex. The first one was certainly one of the worst books I've ever read!

Ok, thanks everyone. I got the impression people whose reviews I read had said they thought they were complex due to the amount of characters and numerous plot strands???

I can't see what all the fuss is about with these books. Why all the five star reviews? The first one is nothing special although I concede that the awful narration on Audible might detract from the story itself.

I think the first two are a bit muddly if you don't read them in one go. The third one I'm reading now has been written more clearly with some recapping that helps. They are great fun.

weebarra · 23/09/2015 07:47

I really like them but complex they are not.

I think they are more for readers who can suspend disbelief and who laugh at absurdity and chaos Grin
If farcical/slapstick/sci-fi-ey stuff isn't your thing, then chances are you will be utterly unmoved by them.
If Dr. Who meets Keystone Cops meets "Mad Scientist" is your thing, you will probably loved them Grin
