Easy reading for hospital stay?

Need some recommendations if possible as I'm going into hospital next week for a few days, with a 2 week recovery period. It needs to be easy reading! Nothing to dark and gloomy please and not too "chick lit".

Recently read some of Georgette Heyer, liked the Grand Sophy and Venetia but thought a couple of the others were not so great. Any other good ones she's written?

Historical/Mythology based a possibility although it's an age since I've read any.

I read some a while back about sisters, each one had a book, there was a drug addict, one who was pregnant, one who was a detective???

The short stories of F Scott Fitzgerald.
The most wonderful short stories I have ever read.

Historical - the Merlin series by Mary Stewart? The first one is The Crystal Cave. I also enjoyed the Philippa Gregory historical novels about the Plantagenets/Tudors (Kingmaker's Daughter/White Queen/The Other Bokeyn Girl etc)

The Poldark books.

My go to comfort books are by O Douglas and Susan Scarlett. O Douglas has books about (mostly) wealthy people living nice lives in the Scottish Borders around the First World War. It's just nice stress free reading. Susan Scarlet (noël streatfield) nice happy romances.

Diane Chamberlain books are fairly easy to read.

I am a massive Georgette Heyer fan,
Frederica and Reluctant Widow are always firmly in the top few

I love Barbara Erskine, but can be a bit spooky

Lucinda Riley - The Midnight Rose
Santa Montefiore - Secret of the Lighthouse

I quite like Katie FForde as a less silly chick lit..

Jaqueline Winspear - Maisie Dobbs
Frances Brody - Dying in the Wool

Mary Wesley has written a bunch of good intelligent books that aren't hard going at all. My favourites are The Camomile Lawn and Harnessing Peacocks.
