me, dd17 and dd13 are driving 200miles on Friday, followed by 80 miles on saturday and then 280 miles back the following week. (I reckon about 12 hours driving total)
I have a credit on audible to use.

Recommend me a book to download?
I like historical fiction, mysteries, harry potter, LOTR etc
DD17 similar tastes, likes the Lorien Legacies, maze runner, HUnger Games etc
Has to be suitable for DD13 though (so not GoT type stuff)

Haven't started it yet so can't recommend but I recently downloaded Dark Eden by Chris Becket which might fit the bill?

How about Ben Aranovitch Rivers of London? I enjoyed as much as my 13 year old!

FlossieTreadlight · 18/07/2015 20:46

Ditto Rivers of London, also American Gods by Neil Gaiman

DuchessofMalfi · 18/07/2015 20:58

Rivers of London series is great - gets better with each novel. However, beware there's sex scenes in Moon over Soho ( the second one in the series). Could be a bit embarrassing listening to with your teenagers :o

Badgerlady · 21/07/2015 12:09

American Gods is great BUT there is some quite strong sexual content and language. At one point a man is swallowed by a women's vagina during sex...

Neverwhere is good and as far as I recall

If the Robyn Hobb books are available on audible I'd highly recommend then. Perhaps start with the Liveship trilogy. The Fitz /Fool books are also very good though

crapfatbanana · 22/07/2015 14:39

The Charles Dickens biog by Clare Tomalin
Middlemarch read by Juliet Stevenson (35+ hours)
Midnight's Children
The Bone Clocks
The Help
Love Nina, by Nina Stibbe
The Paris Wife

DuchessofMalfi · 22/07/2015 17:02

How about Clare Balding's Walking Home? It won't be long enough for 12 hours but it's so entertaining you won't mind listening to it twice! I loved every minute of it. She's just so positive and cheerful and also funny.

antimatter · 23/07/2015 06:56

IMHO The Bone Clocks is too complex to follow whilst driving. I am sure v.good book but I kept loosing track of time hops whilst driving.

wigglybeezer · 26/07/2015 22:38

if you like historical fiction then the audio books of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series are very good but too much sex to listen to with teens! ( helping me get through some boring decorating though).

outtolunchagain · 26/07/2015 22:40

Second Love Nina , I am listening to the new Poirot book by Sophie Hannah and that is very good

beanandspud · 26/07/2015 22:47

'Notes from a small island' by Bill Bryson is entertaining and good for car journeys.

WiIdfire · 26/07/2015 22:49

Patrick Rothfuss - The name of the wind.

Love this book, should be suitable for all ages in the car. Bit fantasy, bit magic, excellent narration. Highly recommend it.

flumperoo · 26/07/2015 23:06

The Girl With All The Gifts - a recent favourite and read brilliantly on audible.

Gumnast2014 · 28/07/2015 22:03

Peter James blooming addictive

Cooroo · 29/07/2015 07:40

The cuckoo's Calling - JK Rowling writing as Robert Galbraith made very good car entertainment. My DD and I really enjoyed all the Alex Rider books on audio too - despite them being aimed at boys!

RustyBear · 01/08/2015 18:57

Anya Seton's Katherine is very well read by Diana Bishop - though you could do your journey twice before it's finished!
