Please help me find a new series of books

A few of my favourite authors have finished their series of books and I have been casting around my ereader for a few days looking for something to read. As I am about to go on our annual holiday (also known as read as many books in two weeks as possible), I need to find someone new to get enthused about.

I have read and enjoyed the Kim Harrison Hollows series, Kat Richardson grey walker series, everything Janet Evanovich has ever written, Jim Butcher until the stupid ghost one, Sue Grafton's alphabet series, all of the Agatha Raisin series, quite a few other cozy mystery ones, all of the Jack Reacher books and some of Jame Patterson's early stuff (but it's all the same now)

Please can you suggest something new, and if there are a few in the series, so much the better. I do read a couple of books a week so I'm always looking for suggestions.

Oh! Were you at WorldCom too Talesin? I wondered whether there were any other MNers there.

I would second Rivers of London, (which is just as well since the OP's already bought it) but the Laundry series are perhaps more of a specialist taste. If the OP doesn't know her Cthulhu from her Nyarlathotep then they may be lost on her (for the benefit of the curious, the Laundry series combines Le Carre's downbeat Civil Service spies, some very nerdy computer programming, and HP Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos)

....that should be World Con - sodding autocorrect.

Second Phil Rickman's Merrily Watkins series about a female minister who gets involved in 'deliverance'. Absolutely excellently done. Elly Griffiths is also good.

Dresden Files get better again after the stupid ghost one - latest is definitely back approaching some kind of decent reading.

Second the Patricia Briggs recommendation too. And going to check out some of the others now!

I've finished the first St Mary's book and am half way through the second one. I absolutely love them and I would never have discovered them without you lot.
