I've never heard of this. DD is 5 going on 15! . Are there any there she'd be interested in?

roisin · 10/11/2006 17:24

Yes, the picture books category certainly:
Guess Who?s Coming for Dinner? by John Kelly and Cathy Tincknell
Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers
Traction Man is Here by Mini Grey

You can download opening extracts free from love reading for kids to give you an idea of the books.

Will have to do this with dd1 definatly dd2 may like some of the picture books

roisin · 11/11/2006 10:32

Nikkie, if you struggle to find the books in the library ... it's because we've got them all!

I have bought a copies of:
Grk and the Pelotti Gang, and
Spud goes green
(let me know if you want to borrow them).

I also have:
Adolphus Tips, and
Blood Fever

but currently they're being borrowed by children at school!

Won't get to the library this week anyway!
Dd2 is in the midst of party season-4 in a week then dd1 has 1 too!

roisin · 11/11/2006 21:18

Do you use the online library service? You collect a password from the library, then you can order the books you want to come to XXX library (from anywhere in the County), and they send you a little letter when they're ready.

Costs 70p per adult book, but free for children!

Haven't seen that, will have to ask next time we are in.

roisin · 11/11/2006 21:34

You must do it! You can search the entire County library catalogue from home and reserve books. You can also check what books you have out on your tickets, and you can renew books online as well if you haven't got time to get to the library. It's a fabulous service.

We were disappointed by the results, especially ds2. He gave the overall winner 3/10 - the lowest mark he gave any of the 8 books he read!
