Olav lives the lonely life of a fixer. When you 'fix' people for a living – terminally – it's hard to get close to anyone. Now he's finally met the woman of his dreams. But there are two problems. She's his boss's wife. And Olav's just been hired to kill her.

I always have found norwegian stories intriguing. And this book was not an exception. It was not just a book about love and the wrold of crime. It was more an analysis of a criminal mind, what he thought and his feelings. It was my first book from Jo Nesbo and I enjoyed it.

Apologies for taking so long to post this review, I had a few problems with the cd! The first cd wouldn't play at all, and the second cd I received wouldn't play in my car, which would have been my best opportunity to listen. When I got the chance to listen at home, I found that when I stopped the disc and went back to it later, I couldn't skip through to the point where I'd left off...so I had to start from scratch!

So, was it worth the trouble? Sadly, no. I found my mind wandering regularly and don't think that I actually registered large chunks of the story. I really feel that this was down to the narration. I found Patti Smith the most bizarre choice of narrator. Her voice is monotonous and had the effect of tuning me out. I also found it odd to have a woman narrating a story which was largely meant to be spoken by the main male character.

I've never read anything by Jo Nesbo before, (although my daughter loves his Doctor Proctor books!), and even though I didn't enjoy this audiobook, I would be keen to try reading some of his stuff. I might even get hold of a copy of 'Blood on snow', as I'm sure I'd enjoy reading it more than I did listening!

Many thanks for the opportunity to listen and review.

Thank you Mumsnet for the audiobook. I must admit I've never read any Jo Nesbo before but I've heard lots of people rave about the books so I was quite excited to get the cd in the post. I decided to put it in the car to listen to as that's the only time I really listen to anything and due to the content I could only listen when I didn't have my 4yo with me.
I have to admit I don't think I'm an audiobook fan; Patti Smith as a narrator felt very monotone, with little passion for the story. I haven't finished listening but I'm not sure I will now. I do want to read some Ho Nesbo but after this experience I don't think I'll be rushing to get any
