Really enjoyed reading this - anything similar you can recommend?

Just came on to say Things We Have in Common but rose has beaten me to it. Smile. I have also read Disclaimer and Alys, Always and of course TGOTT. I think Things We have in Common is the best of those though also flawed (picky).

Any new recommendations anyone? Smile

Another yes for Disclaimer. Now reading 'The Bones of You' by Debbie Howells which I'm enjoying.

Anything by Elizabeth Haynes, I find her books have got more substance to them than others in the same genre.

Loved Alys, Always and Her. Also, Sabine Durrant has written two that are good.

I liked the fact that The Girl On The Train was based on the author's own experiences of commuting to London from Bucks every day for work. I think it added that realism. It was believable. If you want something similar that I have found just as gripping and believable, with a fab twist, I'd truly recommend The Theseus Paradox. Here on Kindle. I think it's on January special coz I paid a fiver and it's now dirt cheap at £1.99. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B015UDFYQ6

I've just finished The Quality of Silence by Rosamund Lupton - it was brilliant, still thinking about it now. Very atmospheric. Absolutely loved it.

So far this year I've read and really enjoyed:

Follow Me by Angela Clarke - grip-lit with a Twitter twist, scared me but couldn't put it down.

In Bitter Chill by Sarah R Ward - thriller/mystery set in Derbyshire.

The Darkest Secret by Alex Marwood - loved this one so much, she really makes the characters come alive - thankfully they don't actually do this as some of them are HORRIBLE! Especially The Landlord in The Killer Next Door - utterly revolting character.

Going to read The Widow by Fiona Barton next, or maybe The Expatriates by Janice Y K Lee, but I really should read the library books I picked up on Saturday first!

Another vote for Elizabeth Haynes!
I also liked....
The girl in 6E - A. Thore (I think)!
I let you go
If she did it
The sisters (not as good as the above)
After Alice
Breaking the silence - Diana chamberlain

Yes to Alex Marwood and Liane Moriarty.

Anyone get any new to add to this... think I've read of of these!

PollyPerseid · 20/02/2016 20:30

humble I've just finished The Burning Air by Erin Kelly - loved it, also The Poison Tree by her.

Just started In a Dark Dark Wood by Ruth Ware.

There's a few on Amazon I want - the actual books are 3 for £10 but the Kindle versions much dearer so I'm waiting till they come down a bit no spend February didn't turn out as expected. Grin

The girl in the red coat by Kate Hammer
The book of you by Claire Kendal
Still Missing by Beth Gutcheon (I loved this)
The Cry by Helen FitzGerald
The Woman before me by Ruth Dugdall - all of these are books I've read in the last year and really enjoyed and they're all in that vein of thriller / psychological thriller
Another one I loved was Anna Quindlens Black and Blue it's about a woman who leaves a very abusive marriage and goes on the run with their son, was really good. Hope you find something in that list you enjoy

DO NOT READ GONE GIRL IT IS TOTALLY MEH AND A WASTE OF TIME.

Instead read The Silent Wife by ASA Harrison who sadly died before it was published.

It is a much more intelligent read and the characters are much more rounded and you believe in them and only 275 pages. So even if you don't like it, you won't have wasted too much time on it.

Unlike Begone Girl. Grin

Another cracking read is The Truth About The Harry Quibert Affair.
