Looking for a light hearted novel not aimed at twenty somethings

I've been struggling with depression for over a year and I'm trying to do things I enjoy. I always loved reading, but am struggling to concentrate.

Books I've enjoyed in the past are earlier Joanna Trollope, Mary Wesley, I love books about family life, funny books, about pets, but preferably something I can relate too, not aimed at twenty somethings, but maybe mothers with teenagers or weight problems.

I loved Life after Life and Behind the scenes at the Museum. Also loved The house we grew up in.

Any suggestions?

The Van by Roddy Doyle. Trust me.

Another Laurie Graham fan here. I have read pretty much all her stuff but my particular favourites are:
The Future HomeMakers of America
Mr StarLight
At Sea
Dress Circle.

Can I also recommend Trisha Ashley I think you will find she meets the spec of light hearted and not for twenty somethings. My absolute favourite is her first novel - Good Husband Material (I have always pictured the hero in this novel as Aidan Turner, long before the current obsession with him when the only thing I had seen him in was Being Human)

However, I tend to enjoy all her later books too and they do sort of overlap as she sets them in the same fictional area so characters from one nove are often referred to again in another

5Foot5, I love Aiden Turner in Being Human Grin

I've read some Trisha Ashley, don't think I've read Good Husband Material though, I'll have a look, I've enjoyed her books in the past.

I haven't read any Laurie Graham, so will check some of hers out, thanks for the suggestions.

I'll also have a look at The Van by Roddy Doyle - haven't read any of his.

I've read some Gervaise Phinn, quite enjoyed the first two, then found them a bit samey - of course they are, but could go back to them in the future I think.

I think I've read one of Wendy Holden's, I'll have a look at her others.

I liked Dorothy Koomston's early books, but not so sure about her later stuff.

Not sure I'm in the mood for Agatha Christie at the moment, although I used to enjoy the films.
