Can anybody recommend anything good for a 2yo (3 in Jan) who ran out into the road the other day ..... ?

Our local road safety office had books for this age group. (she visited out toddler group and talked about road safety and car seats) The book was about a bear and how it should keep safe when out.

Contact your local council and ask for the road safety co-ordinator, if they dont do a book they will know of someone who does.

good luck, hope LO was OK (and you've stopped shaking)

sorry to say this..but how did that happen?

you have to take them out and show them the dangers of the road, i get so annoyed with the lack of road safety campaigns in this country.

i joined a fanastic free club. every fewmonths or so they send you a book with things to do and how to teach you toddler. about holding hands, looking left and right very basic stuff - but great fun. not sure who it is - but sure someone else will. if not i will look for the latest book for you. we are away till friday so will be next weekend.

That sounds great MSM - I'd love to know about the club anyway

Exactly right southeast

Sorry mandy which book did you say you were recommending?

I am a childminder as well as a mum and it never ceases to amaze me the lack of road sense a lot of kids have. Mine aren't too bad but then again I dont drive so we have always walked everywhere (thats not to say they dont forget the rules sometimes!) Walking and using roads really does seem to help.

Lots of practical experience is a good way to learn as well as from books.

this is the one: children's traffic club

dreadful website - at least in firefox - but the books are good.

I'm reassured in a way by what you say bbm - I don't drive either and DD1 walks loads - I have a 1yo DD2 in a buggy also so it can be tricky to hang onto her at times but I agree with you about experience & practice. I contacted the road safety office as you advised and had an instant, really friendly response - they're sending me the bear book, and signing DD1 up to the club that you linked to puppy (for which, thanks)

californifright - I sympathise
