We used to think that erratic teenage behaviour was due to a sudden surge in hormones, but modern neuroscience shows us that this isn't true.

Part self-help and part new science The Teenage Brain unveils new insight into the adolescent mind and advice on how best to parent through this tumultuous period.

We've got 50 copies of The Teenage Brain to giveaway this week, click here to find out more and apply for a free copy.

Don't forget, if you're lucky enough to receive a copy of The Teenage Brain we do ask that you tell us what you think about it on the thread below or write a review here.

I've applied... One of my own and fifty plus belonging to other people!

Ledkr · 07/02/2015 08:49

I work in adoption support and often recommend this book to clients. It would be greAt to have my own to lend out rather than just the work one. I apply it all to my own teen dd and it's improved our relationship significantly.

yummum120 · 07/02/2015 13:39

Applied. Fingers cross

MajesticWhine · 07/02/2015 14:13

I have got a 14 yr old and a completely impossible 12 year old. I also work with young adults, so I would love to have this book.

Cockadoodledooo · 07/02/2015 18:50

I've attempted to apply twice but it doesn't appear to be working on my phone. Would be grateful if you could let me know whether it has gone through MNHQ? Thanks.

TheScottishPlay · 07/02/2015 21:42

I have applied. It sounds just the ticket for fathoming 11 year old DS and his everchanging moods. I look forward to reporting back!

I've applied as well - with 2 of them, life is getting interesting...

WhenMarnieWasThere · 08/02/2015 11:06

Applied. Dd1 is still lovely at nearly 14. Her younger sibling may turn out to be completely different kettle of fish.

JustAnotherControlFreak · 08/02/2015 11:34

I've applied in the hope that I'll be able at least try to understand DSS1 (11yo) through these teen years (DS is 6mo so won't help him yet!). Feels like we're already in amongst it

DubbyDubby · 24/02/2015 00:00

oh poo, I missed the deadline Sad

Fanjango · 25/02/2015 09:06

Ooooh!! My copy arrived this morning. Many thanks! It looks fascinating Smile

LIZS · 25/02/2015 11:59

Arrived today , thank you

Dunlurking · 25/02/2015 14:26

Lovely surprise to get this in the post today. With a 16 year old, a 14 year old and a YA fiction book half written it's going to be sooooo useful. Thanks.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 25/02/2015 15:52

Just got home and this has arrived. I'm not sure I want to get into DS1's brain at the moment. ??

OddBoots · 25/02/2015 16:50

My copy arrived today too, thank you. I'd better get started on it right away as I already have two friends who want to borrow it after me.

shrunkenhead · 28/02/2015 23:35

Preparing myself as mine isn't quite old enough yet!

BlackSusie2004 · 02/03/2015 18:00

Thank you for my copy which came last week. I haven't had a chance to read it all as yet, but it looks a brilliant book from the parts that I have read. As well as living with a teenager (my stepdaughter) I am also studying for diplomas in child psychology and teaching assistant at the moment so it's going to be indispensable!

I love the fact that the book doesn't just discuss the 'normal' teenage angst, which is very real at the time, but delves further to discuss subjects such as self-harm and suicide which are a bigger threat than ever to our teenagers today.

Biscuitsneeded · 07/03/2015 22:40

Just popped on to say thank you for my copy, which was a nice surprise. I have only read the first 30 or so pages so far but it's really interesting. As well as having two children coming up to their teenage years, for which this book is useful preparation, I am a secondary teacher so I have a double reason to find this fascinating. When I finally get some time (Easter holidays?) I will read the rest of the book and come back on here to tell you what I thought. Thank you again.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 09/03/2015 21:10

Just finishing my library book then I'll be starting on this. Also got the Rosie Effect so best get cracking!

daimbardiva · 22/05/2015 17:44

I'm midway through this and it is fascinating. I am a biologist myself so find the science quite accessible and the explanations of why teenagers are as they are quite fascinating. However I'm finding all the tales of the awful things teenagers getup to really frightening - it'll be a while before my kids are that age but is there anyway I can keep them tiny?!

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 26/05/2015 17:14

Sorry for the late review but I've been dipping in and out of the book, it isn't to read in one go.

I found the book very easy to read. The scientific parts are accessible and informative.

A lot of it relates to DS1, and I'll probably be saying the same about DS2 in a few years!

A good book if you are interested in how teenagers' minds work.
