The Guardian has helpfully compiled a list of the new releases:

www.theguardian.com/books/2015/jan/02/books-2015-calendar-year-kazuo-ishiguro-jonathan-franzen-toni-morrison

I'm particularly excited about new books from Jon Ronson, Kate Atkinson (a companion volume to Life after Life), Jonathan Franzen and Sebastian Faulks. And David Lodge has a memoir out - am a big Lodge fan so really looking forward to that.

What about everyone else?

January 21st. I'm going to a preview of the first two episodes tomorrow night so very excited (though haven't read the books yet).

Late Fragments by Kate Gross who died of colon cancer aged just 36 leaving behind twin boys aged 5 is simply a beautiful book and surprisingly life affirming. I highly recommend it and will be buying a copy for all my nearest and dearest this year. Google Kate Gross to read all about this amazing woman and mother

I have enjoyed the latest book from Haruki Murakami, The Colourless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage. I am a big fan, so I always look forward to his new work. Also, The Triple Package: What Really Determines Success by Jed Rubenfeld was quite an interesting analysis why certain groups of people are more successful than others. The author is the husband of Amy Chua, who wrote the Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother

I'm also looking forward to the Jonathan Franzen one.

A new Patrick Gale book out in spring I think. And Kate Atkinson life after life follow up- can wait! And yes Jonathan Franzen too.

I decided to read some classics this year. So far I managed to read Thomas Hardy- Tess of d'Urbervilles. I recommend it! Me and my best friend read it at the same time and what amazed me that we had totally different points of view about the book. She sympathized Angel and I- Alexander. We had opposite view and each of us had her own arguments.

A Song of Shadows by John Connolly.
I really wish the next Game of Thrones book would come out, but suspecting it will be at least next year, if not longer.
Trigger Warning by Neil Gaiman.
The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro. I loved Never Let Me Go.
Library of Lost Souls by Ransom Riggs. I know these are YA books, but I fell in love with Miss Peregrine's Home for Lost Children and am looking forward to the film adaption.

Hoping to see something new from Lauren Grof and LR Fredericks. One of those First world problems when you discover a great writer and immediately want to devour their back catalogue but they're newish and there isn't much there yet Hmm

I think I read somewhere that Vikram Seth was writing a sequel to A Suitable Boy. I'll have to earmark at least a couple of weeks to read that then.

The third book to follow The Passage and The Twelve by Justin Crinan should be out this year. I just saw on his Facebook page that it has gone to the publishersGrin Grin

Provencalroseparadox · 23/02/2015 15:54

From that list I've wishlisted Kate Atkinson, William Boyd, Robert Harris, Judy Blume.

Did you read The Mime Order yet Beaver? I really enjoyed.

hackmum · 23/02/2015 17:10

The Kazuo Ishiguro one is out next week, I think. Seems a bit of a departure - a fantasy set during the Dark Ages. Might wait for someone else to read it first and let us know what they think!

I saw it reviewed in the paper yesterday Hackmum and wasn't at all sure.

Also just noticed that Pierre Lemaitre has the final book in his Camille Verhoeven trilogy coming out next week. Am really looking forward to it as these are amazing books.
