I got a lovely little hardback of The Strange Library by Murakami. Gorgeous looking book. Also a £10 amazon voucher so will definitely treat myself in the sale. How about you?

The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber.

I'm my own santa so bought it for myself, wasn't sure what other book to get so plumped for this, despite being different to my general reads,as it gets such great reviews.

Got the hardback version and it is visually stunning.Beautiful white dust jacket covered in a lovely gold foil pattern with gold foil title.

The Book underneath looks lovely too.Pure white cover with the title deeply imprinted-not an ounce of colour.Looks beautiful! I almost don't want to read it through fear of it not looking so perfect after Blush

I got Clockwork Angel (1st of Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare) from DD which I have already read.

Then a s election of interesting looking but more meaningful sci-fi from DH which I'm going to start on tomorrow as we have a long train journey

DD knows and sympathises with my love of proper trash fantasy and a suitably romantic 'bad boy' hero Grin

Takver · 26/12/2014 12:20

However I am jealous of DD who got 55 pounds worth of book/amazon tokens!!!

thelittlebooktroll · 26/12/2014 15:06

Frederick Backman "A man called Ove" and Emma Healey "Elisabeth is missing"

minsmum · 26/12/2014 21:37

Vera Brittain A Testament of Youth, Charles Townshend The Republic, Caroline Moorehead Village of Secrets. No fiction this year

dancingwitch · 26/12/2014 21:40

None! My first ever Christmas without any books. It feels really odd not having at least one pristine book to look forward to. It seems that this is a downside of having a Kindle.

aoife24 · 26/12/2014 22:20

I was given The Narrow Road to the Deep North (Richard Flanagan).

farendofafart · 26/12/2014 22:28

Phillipa Gregory, The Kingmaker's Daughter. Can't wait to get stuck in!

funambulist · 26/12/2014 22:34

I've got H is for Hawk, The Big Sleep (Raymond Carver) and The Bone Clocks (David Mitchell). One of my favourite things about Christmas is the bit after our guests go home and we have a fridge full of food and lots of time to read.

funambulist · 26/12/2014 22:35

dancingwitch there are lots of good kindle books on sale for 99p at the moment on Amazon. 99p is less than the price of a newspaper or a cup of coffee in a café. Why not buy yourself something?

arlagirl · 26/12/2014 22:36

Alan Cummings autobiography

tobee · 27/12/2014 14:49

I got two books about dogs and their psychology (have new pup), one letters from the trenches, and a four pack of Charlie Brown - so far. Hoping for more!

So what does that say about how others think of me?

Swanhildapirouetting · 27/12/2014 16:28

Nora Webster by Colm Toibin. Read it without stopping and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although it works best as a sequel to Brooklyn which I am obsessed by.
Now I want a sequel to Nora Webster...Romance...hope...blossoming after widowhood..??? I don't want to be left with two tragic open ended endings....

Dwerf · 27/12/2014 16:32

Stephen King's 'Revival'. I've finished it already.

Good job the local charity shop was doing 4 books for a quid last week :D

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 27/12/2014 16:34

Is Revival good Dwerf ? So many mixed reviews I still haven't decided whether to get it or not!

Dwerf · 27/12/2014 18:11

It's pretty readable but I think the framing is wrong on it. It's a guy recalling the entire thing so there's not a lot of immediate danger to the main character, it's more of a mystery than a horror. There is horror in it, but it's a lot more sinister than horrific. It's not his best but nowhere near his worst.

Shamazeballs · 27/12/2014 18:15

The little friend and secret history by Donna Tarrtt (sp). I loved the goldfinch so really looking forward to these.

IsabellaofFrance · 28/12/2014 16:30

Osman's Dream by Caroline Finkel and A History of Ancient Britain by Neil Oliver.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/12/2014 16:49

I wasn't at all impressed by, 'Revivial' sadly. Am a massive King fan but that felt like a return to such nonsense as, 'Needful Things' to me. It made me really cross.

I got Cold which looks really interesting, plus a lovely new colouring book!

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 28/12/2014 16:52

Time and Time Again by Ben Elton, The Miniaturist and The Paying Guests.

Also some Waterstones vouchers and bought myself a couple of cheap Kindle books. I'm very happy. Grin

stihlhere · 28/12/2014 16:57

Mystery in white which I am loving

GoodQueenWenchAnneLass · 28/12/2014 19:59

The Black Russian by Vladimir Alexandrov (I am beyond excited to read this but can't until about June).

Circles around the sun by Molly McCloskey. This will be a hard read as it is about her brother and how his schizophrenia impacted on their family. I have a very similar situation but it has been on my list for ages.

Also £20 Amazon and £20 Waterstones vouchers.

CrawlyDreads · 28/12/2014 21:29

I love those books. Fantastic read from start to finish :)

FruitCakey · 04/01/2015 01:11

I got the newest Sylvia Day book - Captivated by you.

The Hunger Games bookset.
The Divergent bookset.

I love my old traditional books - such as Little Women, Rebecca, Jane Eyre etc. But I am a sucker for the teenage fantasies too. Grin
