My ds is 8 and has mild/moderate dyslexia. He will read but only when gripped by tales of boys and adventures. He is reading Enid Blyton (shudder but he loves it). Has read some Harry Potter but would rather listen to Stephen Fry. I would love it if people could recomend great adventure stories of his age group with boys as heroes and simple language. When he is gripped he even reads as we go round the supermarket so the will is there and I need to capitalise on it.

authors such as Jeremy Strong will really appeal to him
here
That is a good starting pont - simple text, afew line drawings and really appeals to 'reluctant' boy readers

My ds is not dyslexic, but is not a naturally enthusiastic reader. He has just finished (and loved) the Eddie Dickens Trilogy by Philip Ardagh, and I was a Rat by Philip Pulman. Hope that helps!

Try the publisher Barrington Stoke - my dyslexic 9-year-old loves them - pacy, interesting stories aimed at boys mainly, I think. We got them from our local library.
