Which "classics" have you never read but feel you ought to?

I have always loved reading & read many classics through my teens. However, I'm aware that my child-rearing years have mostly been one chick-lit after another.

After perusing this board yesterday, I retrieved Jane Eyre from my bookshelves & am trying again with it (I don't think I have ever got past the third chapter).

I am also determined that I shall have read a Dickens novel by the end of the year.

Which classics have passed you by?

War and Peace.

I also don't like Jane Austen and have read nothing of hers in earnest.

Those of you who like Austen should read Evelina by Fanny Burney. I like it much better.

Isabella that's also in my to read pile. I don't like Austen much but will give it a go.

Anna Karenina - I read War and Peace last year, so Anna Karenina should be easy, right?

Tristram Shandy - I bought it years ago and have never opened it.

Ulysses - I really ought to read this. I have taken the first step by downloading it onto my kindle last week (it's free).
