How do you feel when you find a book you know will engulf you?

I've struggled to get into anything since GoT. It took me seven months to read all of them. I loved getting home from work knowing I could eat, go to bed and slip into my "other world." I love that thrill you get during the day when you remember you've got a great book waiting for you later.

Currently reading 11.22.63 by Stephen King and I'm hooked! Quite relieved, didn't think I was going to like anything again!

Feel the same as you but nothing really grabs me these days...

I know a book has me in its claws when I don't keep checking how far along I am (on Kindle).

So easy to be distracted by the percentages when you're not really into the book Grin. The last one that I sped through, oblivious to the page numbers was The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert.

Before that, a good thriller - The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith (J K Rowling). Tony Parsons's The Murder Bag was pretty good too.

Oh and The Blackwater Lightship by Colm Toibin. Not a thriller, but a completely absorbing novel.

Donna Tartt currently has me in her grips and I often find myself wondering about the characters in The Goldfinch when I'm not reading it, as well as feeling resentful about getting on with non-reading stuff.

Currently engulfed by The Blind Assassin (after seeing it mentioned on the "books to read again" thread.) I'm torn between wanting to rush through it as I'm really intrigued by the story, but also wanting to eeek it out as I don't want it to end.

Glad other people get engulfed too!
I'm off to bed to get back to 11.22.63 (or similar numbers, I forget!)
In theory it should be a nice 2 hours reading; in reality I will fall asleep after 20.

I was drawn in by The Story of the Stone it was one of the longest books I've ever read as it comes in 5 volumes. Felt kind of sad when it finished as the book is so long you get involved with the characters and their development/downfall.

Americanah by Chimimanda Ngozi Adichie was brilliant.

i wait until i know i can dedicate the time to reading it, i hate getting into a book and then having to put it down after a couple of chapters.. i like to dedicate a whole day to the task ;)
