I've just finished "reading" this in audiobook format and was very impressed indeed. I'm usually a listener to Crime stories, and although there is crime at the heart of this story, it's the feelings and interactions of the characters that are more important here.
At the end of the recording the author gives an explanation of how she came to write the book - her realisation that modern mothers have so many responsibilities to their partners, children, jobs, etc, etc and that it's no wonder that sometimes things go wrong. In this case, the omission is dreadful and I genuinely felt for the main character in her journey through the events as they unfold.
