I've decided not to buy any books for a year and am currently going through
my bookshelves to see which books I still haven't read.

I'm not even halfway through and have already found enough for a year of reading. Please tell me I'm not alone in this...

Why? You might have read it from the library.
Sorry I should have made it clear that I was joking. I read a lot of books from the library and quite a lot of the books I've read aren't on my shelves.

I've about 200 yet-to-be reads on my kindle and at least 500 in hard copy
Grin It's good, isn't it? Like having your own little bookshop at home.

Ulysses is the only book that has ever defeated me - I could not read it.
I am still traumatised by my experience tbh.
As my last attempt was about 20 years ago, maybe I should try again? Or not bother…
I cannot bear to have books unread - even if I load several on the kindly in preparation of a holiday, I get all uncomfortable and stressed until I've read them all Grin

About 200 tree books, I read all the time and when I see a good book I buy it. I couldn't bear not to have plenty of books around me. I never re read and get rid of them straight after reading. I have more on my kindle and I'm a member of the library.

Ulysses is the only book that has ever defeated me - I could not read it. Haha, yes, I know exactly what you mean, I'm not sure I'll ever manage.

I cannot bear to have books unread You need to practise Smile. I'd panic if I didn't have unread books. I need to know that there is always a good, unread book nearby.

Oh, I 'practice'. A lot. I just always read even the most amazing pile of steaming tripe to the end Grin
I am a greedy and indiscriminate reader - not undiscerning, I like high quality trash.

Oh, and much as "kindly' is really cute, I meant 'Kindle' in my penultimate post. But you all got that.

Did anyone else listen to the brilliant (imho) BBC adaptation of Ulysses. Was on Radio 4 extra earlier this year. About as close as I'm going to get to "reading" it Grin

I've got 562 on my kindle Shock

FickleByNurture · 27/08/2014 10:33

I have loads of generic books I get through quite quickly but if I buy interesting looking books that I've been looking forward to I tend to "save" then for a day that's miserable and then curl up with them and a cup of tea. This now means I have at least 10 such books as well as any outstanding books on the kindle(probably >50)
