Usually I finish books (even if it isn't really fantastic). But recently I have lost momentum on the last 3 books I've started. This is bad. It might be because I am 'over' reading and trying to do the 50 book challenge - urghhh

Can anyone very kindly suggest a real good page turner to get me going again? Minus any gruesome violence if possible. But something that keeps you reading right till the end IYKWIM.

Thanks very much!

Sorry, couldn't get to the end of your post...

Ha ha -very good. I know, my attention span is so limited these days, I'm surprised I managed to write that much.

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Here are a couple I read really quickly/easily

The Girls

I can recommend 'Gods Inc' by Sarah King as a really good page turner. I have also bought her latest one, 'What Laura Saw'. It looks very, very scary! But haven't started it yet so will have to feed back on that one.

Have you read 'Can anybody help me?' by Sinéad Crowley? I found that one to be quite a page turner.

I also suffer from the 'not finishing books syndrome', but I think it is the fault of the books rather than me, as when I hit upon a good one, I always finish it, usually within three sittings.

Oh and 'The Lie of you', by Jane Lythell, although that seems to be rather like marmite, you either love it or hate it. I loved it!

grocklebox · 21/07/2014 12:29

The Girls is excellent, I agree, I read it several years ago and still remember it.

Just also bought The memory box by Eva Lesco Natiello. Judging by the reviews it is unputdpownable. Looking forward to reading it!

Thanks for the suggestions - as I haven't read any of the books mentioned, and they all look very good!

Going away on holidays on Aug 6th so may well download a couple of these on my Kindle.

I loved "The girls" too and remember it quite well.

Jack Reacher books are all £2 at the moment.

Just read Tge Beach Hut Next Door by Veronica Henry. Very light summer reading and if you really have lost your reading mojo she has also written a Quick ReadSmile

No recommendations for you, OP, but just wanted to sympathise, as I'm going through a jag of starting books and not finishing them right now. Keep hoping I'll find something that'll hit the spot, but I think it's pretty common to have periods like that!

sweetnessandlite · 29/07/2014 22:35

I've had this exact same problem for a year now. I blame it on buying too many books at a time.
It's best to start and finish one book before buying ano.............

What was I saying? Confused

sweetnessandlite · 29/07/2014 22:42

The Girls left me cold, I couldn't get into it at all.

Now, The Memory Box looks like my cup of tea. Might just order that one.

imaginative · 02/08/2014 10:03

I really enjoyed the Memory Box it's very unusual and very fast paced most of the way. I finished 'What Laura Saw' and it didn't disappoint, though it spooked me out and now I'm scared driving on my own in the dark!
