I enjoy classics, long books, and translated novels - have read Zola, Flaubert, Tolstoy without problems but I am really toiling away with this one.
I do think the Constance Garnett translation hasn't helped, and half-way through, in despair, I bought a second Kindle version translated by Ignat Avsey which is far less clunky.
However I'm only 62% through and the endless repetitious conversations are still wearisome.
Am I missing something re Dostoevsk's genius? Has anyone actually enjoyed this book?
