Amazon recommended this author to me on the strength of my having bought and greatly enjoyed some Tracy Chevalier novels. They look interesting - anyone else recommend?

I think I've only read My Antonia which is a very evocative tale of pioneer life among a small town community in America, beautiful and fascinating. Quite a slow read.

I've read My Antonia and A Lost Lady. Both lovely. Enjoy.

My favorite is Death Comes for the Archbishop. I loved it so much we took a holiday in the USA going to all the places mentioned.

Ooh carlajean that sounds awesome! Any excuse for a US road trip Grin I will put that on my kindle list too.

Am now 2/3 of way through My Antonia and loving it. Thinking of having all next years book group book on the theme of Immigration. (10 books per year), one of these might be my choice. Thanks all Smile

I love wills Cather too, death comes for the archbishop also my favourite. I might get it on my kindle for a holiday reread if it's that cheap!

O Pioneers, Song of the Lark and My Antonia are a sort of Trilogy about life in on the plains in Nebraska, they can all be read independently though.

My Antonia is my favourite, beautiful book. Wanted to work it into my daughter's name somehow but thought it would get pronounced with the stress on the second syllable rather than the first and wouldn't be the same!

I didn't get round to Death Comes for the Archbishop at the time I read the others, might go and look it up now thanks to this thread.

I first read My Antonia when I was in my teens, and found it an utter bore. Years later, I re-read it, after I gathered it was considered a classic. Still boring. It's only now, ages later, that I finally "get" it.

I loved the Song of the Lark. I must see if I can borrow ds' s kindle and get some of the others.
