Apologies if there has already been another thread about this but I just finished it today and I was blown away by it. It was one of those books that made me think how does this writer know all this stuff? It was so insightful and accurate and empathetic. Just wow really! Made me want to write a book as good as this ( but I guess that's the skill of a really good writer, to make it look easy and effortless and like it really happened..)

Any thoughts?

I thought it was ok.

A bit of a storm in a teacup.

I thought it was a great read, and had a very powerful message about the way women are disbelieved in rape cases.

Ah.. I've just come to that chapter in the book

I've just finished it and am a bit conflicted about the whole thing. I read the book within 48 hours as I couldn't put it down, however I hated the characters. It made me question my own reaction to the rape scene as my initial thought was "stupid woman deserved that" which is not a thought which I would normally entertain at all. I found her self centred and self-pitying to a hugely irritating degree. Yet bizarrely I had to keep reading....

Half way through and wondering what all the enthusiastic hype on the cover was about. Maybe it's my age, but I think that it is formulaic and badly written.

I was very underwhelmed by the book. I've read much better psychological thrillers.
