thrillers-any suggestions

Am desperate for a well-written thriller but could not seem to find any suitable in library today.
I got a Nancy Taylor Rosenberg out and to be honest it is drivel.
I like Patricia Cornwell, Tess Gerritsen and Thomas Harris, something vaguely medically orientated but also intelligently written
Any suggestions, i need something that i cannot put down(and a little scary perhaps)

Not necessarily medical connected but I like Mark Billingham novels - detective fiction set in London. Quite gritty & well written. Think the first is called Scaredy Cat

Most of Dean Konntz novel are on the edge of your chair stuff.

I like the Lincoln Rhyme series by Jeffrey Deaver - 'The Bone Collector', 'The Coffin Dancer' etc. Not medical but lots of detail. Jeffrey Deaver has written lots of other books, but I prefer the Lincoln Rhyme ones. HTH

Not really intelligently written but definately "can't put down" - Harlen Coben books. Really easy to read, fast, lots of suspense, a bit scary in places.

I like James Patterson, Jeffrey Deaver, Alex Kava, Tess Gerritson, Karen Slaughter, Mark Billington.

Not medical but Richard North Patterson is very good - sort of political thrillers. Would second the Lincoln Rhyme series by Jeffrey Deaver. Also, Meg Gardner, Lisa Gardiner (may have got the gardener spellings crossed over) are very good. Latter definitely falls into the thriller category. For something completely different but still within the genre try Christopher Brookmyre (incs v black humour). HTH

Church of the Dead Girls by Stephen Dobyns (I think) is excellent. Even dh read and liked it and he never usually reads thrillers.

NomDePlume · 14/08/2006 16:43

DH loves Mark Billingham and Mo Hayder.

Stephen White - Alan Gregory books. They're amazing and I'm sure you'd love them. Don't know how available they are in the UK though.

Jake Arnott's The Long Firm is also brilliant

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 14/08/2006 16:53

I used to like James Patterson but his latest stuff is rushed and lacks plot lines....

I think that is generally what happens with authors once they become established and the money is rolling in.
Anyway , some great suggestions, now all i have to do is get to the library and remember them at the same time. Thanks
