Loved, when god was a rabbit, and life after life, but the best was doctor sleep!
Just finished the goldfinch, didn't enjoy it , kept reading thinking it would get better!

I liked American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld when I read that.

It's about a woman named Alice and tells the story of her life from being a young girl growing up in Wisconsin to her position as America's First Lady when her husband becomes President.

It's loosely based on the real life of Laura Bush, and was actually quite gripping and interesting. Her other books are interesting too, but this was my favourite.

It might fit in with having read A Good Father, which I enjoyed as well when I read it, having a Presidential theme. Or perhaps if you haven't already read it, We Need To Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver, which deals with a parent coping with the aftermath of her son committing murder as well.

I did buy WNTTAK. But just couldn't get into it.
I did think the film was very good though.

Favourite read this year is Tale For the Time Being. Has so much in it. At the end I knew I had to keep it for re reading. It was short listed for the Booker prize. Loved the young Japanese girl and her story which leads you into a different world. You learn so much.

What about Catcher in the Rye, I could never get tired of reading it ?

I imagine I am the last person in the world to have read it but just in case I'm not Grin I recommend The Hunger Games - couldn't put it down (and am just about to start the next one Catching Fire)

I've also recently enjoyed 'The Help', and I love 'Headlong' by Martin Frayn.
