Cross Stitch / Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon

I have vouchers to spend.

I vaguely remember somebody somewhere saying that Cross Stitch was good.

I had a look in Waterstones and there seem to be about five or six books in the series.

I'm a bit fed up of everything having to be a series. There are at least four series books I can think of off the top of my head that I am waiting for the next part of and a couple of other series books where I've read the first book, not realising it was part of a series, but decided not to bother reading the rest.

So is Cross Stitch worth it?

Yes . A good stand alone read. I do have all the series and re-read them . Love them .

Thank you Trumpton.

It's not my usual read from what I could gather but it's not too unusual either, and if it's good as a stand alone that makes it more tempting.

The ones I abandoned after the first book just seemed to stop with no conclusion and to be honest I think one book was pushing the idea, let alone needing to read two or three more. So a stand alone is good.

But Cross Stitch did seem to be a cut above those books and I remember it was being discussed positively last time, I've just been feeling a bit bogged down by series's recently and don't want to commit to another unless it's really worth it.

So it's good to know you re-read them Smile

Best series ever. There are 7 books in the series, the 8th comes out next summer. Im in my 3rd re read. Ive passed my books on to numerous friends whove loved them too

Eight books?

Are they still with the original woman in them, and the man she meets through the stones? Or do later books focus on new characters finding the stones?

The later books introduce new generations and extra characters but still rely heavily on the originals. Do it !

I think I will get the first one and see how I go.

Ive got a couple of child free hours tomorrow morning so I might head out to Waterstones first thing. Thanks both of you Smile

The story is first and foremost still Claire and Jamies story but their family etc are part of that and they're introduced as time goes on.

These books are amazing! I have bought them twice (real book and Kindle) and re-read them often. Definitely go for it.

This series is very addictive and I have read them all. Another book is out in June. One book of the series was a bit rubbish but they picked up again. Starz are currently filming Outlander for TV in America. Hopefully we can get to see it in the UK too!

I bought the first one earlier.

I'm only a few pages in but I am enjoying it so far.

I really hope a UK channel picks it up.

Saw photos today of 'Claire and Jamie' together in costume. Look perfect Smile
