I can never decide! And yes, I have posted this in Adult Fiction... I only started fully enjoying the jokes and word play when I was in my teens.

It's his hair. And the shape of his head. They are WRONG.

ISingSoprano · 23/10/2013 16:20

It is Beeyump! Or at least it is Chateau Cheverny on which it was modelled. There is a wonderful Tintin exhibition there too.

HavantGuard · 23/10/2013 16:21

The dog is fine unlike freaky tufty ball head

ViviDeBOOvoir · 23/10/2013 16:23

Asterix. As well as loving the books it was the first film I was allowed to see without my parents!

HavantGuard · 23/10/2013 16:24

The Asterix: MegaSlap app is very addictive

martinedwards · 23/10/2013 17:02

Asterix, DEFINITELY!

Tin tin was a nazi!!

Amazing thing about the Asterix books is that the humour works so well in it's translations.

for instance Dogmatix..... ONLY works in English.

Getafix the Druid.... only in English..... etc etc etc

and if that wasn't enough, Parc Asterix in Paris is SOOOOO much better than Disney!

HavantGuard · 23/10/2013 17:37

[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Asterix_characters This]] has the alternative names in different languages.

I think the 'nazi' claims were found to be untrue.

VivaLeThrustBadger · 23/10/2013 18:51

Asterix.

But dd prefers TinTin.

MillyONaire · 23/10/2013 18:53

Asterix!!! SOOOO funny, I haven't read them since my teens but can still love Unhygenix selling fresh fish from Paris and the guy from Corsica: You like my sister???? N-n-n-noooo! You don't like my sister???? Hilarious! Okay, maybe you'd have to have been there....

BikeRunSki · 23/10/2013 19:04

Tintin, hands down.
Went to a French school, we divided into Tintin and Asterix camps very young.

Louise1956 · 23/10/2013 19:55

I always found Asterix more amusing.

Love Tin Tin but only the original Belgian versions. I think the translation does not always work. "Kuifje" all the way!

sadsqueaker · 24/10/2013 13:04

Asterix rules in our house! We visited Parc Asterix this summer any my DSs (6&9) loved it, they each have framed photos of themselves shaking hands with Asterix and Chief Vitalstatistix. I know I'm kidding myself to think that reading the french versions we picked up on holiday are educational.
I've just download Asterix Megaslap and am having a few games to help me decide if it's suitable for my DSs, should they be punching Romans?

Beeyump · 24/10/2013 14:57

I just downloaded Asterix Megaslap too! Few games to help you decide? A likely tale... Grin

Also, there is a new Asterix book out now - Asterix and the Picts. I'm looking forward to some good Scottish Independence jokes.

Asterix! I read Tintin when younger, but just don't enjoy them now.

I learnt most of my world history and a fair bit of my geography from Asterix. Various people have tried to tell me that this is not a good thing, but they obviously just need to read them again!

C4ro · 24/10/2013 15:35

Asterix is miles better. I get to feel superior to DH as German version names are much more feeble than the British ones (Fulliautomatix/ Unhygenix/ Cacofonix/ Dogmatix, actually all of them are better in English over German!)

Reread recently and on page 1 of Asterix the gaul found something I'd missed when I read them as a child- the shape of the french coast making a nice 1-finger salute to caesar...

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/10/2013 19:19

Asterix. Though I like Tintin too. I stealthily borrow them on DC's library cards sometimes. Blush

ManicMinor · 24/10/2013 19:26

Asterix, for sure - I have the first one tucked away ready for Christmas for ds (oh no no, I haven't sneakily been reading it, of course not smoothes spine)

maillotjaune · 25/10/2013 19:14

Asterix is great - much funnier than Tintin which looks good but is just a little bit boring.

spicynaknik · 25/10/2013 19:27

Asterix without a doubt. The jokes are funny and the characterisation/artwork draws you in more. Tintin is boring - if you've read one, you've read 'em all.

Beeyump · 25/10/2013 22:58

I feels so defensive of Tintin now. NOT boring! In my opinion Grin
But yes Asterix is funnier.
