Just finished this. The kind of book i'd read on holiday, very much about plot twists & turns rather than charcterisation, use of language etc. Fun for a quick read.

Are you kidding Kickass, it must just have been me, i was totally engrossed and read it in 2 days, although it could also be to do with not reading this type of book before-normally go for complete cheesy stuff.
Well worth the read in my opinion and a new discovered fan of this type of lit.

frodo - i very rarely read cheesy stuff - i'm a bit of a book snob, and although there was plenty of plot to keep it going, i found some of the way he built in cloffhangers was just a bit too contirved & obvious. glad someone liked it though (you'll probably hate the book i sent out!) and you'll probably like the next one as well. Both of them are parts of a series, so it soulds like you've just got your reading matter sorted for the summer.

Just finished this.

I'm not normally one for this sort of book- found it hard to get started to be honest. However, enjoyed it much more than I expected to, and would read the author again.

Thought it would make an excellent All_Amercian glitzy cliff hanger laiden cop show, TBH.

Found the excessive use of weaponry a bit much for me, and in places it got all a bit crazy- had to watch like a film in my head to get the idea.

This is the sort of book dp reads, and he has a few of them but neither of us had read the Empty Chair before.

I'd read The Bone Collector before so was familiar with Sachs and Lincoln Rhyme, and their relationship. I got into it quickly and it was engrossing up to a point.

But by the time I was three quarters through (about where SAchs frees the boy) I'm afraid I was so annoyed with the way the plot and jumped about and backtracked that I skipped to the end.

I did enjoy it, dp will enjoy it even more though and I would read more of the author.
