Has anyone read this yet? I've just finished. Thought it was goo, very similar to Da Vinci Code, but enjoyable nonetheless. It's made me want to go to Florence though!

I really enjoyed it. Unsurprisingly it's been slated by the literati hi-brow types, but it is an enjoyable work of fiction imo with a good plot and a surprising twist.

Decent page turner, interesting premise but so contrived to get Robert Langdon on the case. No reason at all that the villain would leave clues for the head of the WHO based on Dante's Inferno.

My SIL was in the same class at school as Dan Brown. The funny thing is that he didn't make the grade to get into the senior year creative writing course. She, as an extremely nerdy scientist, did.

I enjoyed Angels and Demons and the Davinci Code. I did not like his next book about Masons in Washington DC (can't remember the title). I will hang off until this book is reduced on Kindle.

Yeah, it's pretty much exactly like the Da Vinci code, lots of googling while reading! I loved all the stuff about Florence. I agree the plot was a bit contrived, and the whole twist upon a twist thing at the end was a bit ridiculous, but I actually really liked the ending.
(Spoiler alert!)

I liked that fact that it wasn't a happy ever after ending, usually when I read or watch these kinds of things, where the hero and sidekick are up against the clock to stop a big disaster, and they manage to avoid a catastrophe just at the last possible second. I always find myself rooting for the baddie a little bit! Blush

Not read it yet but I will be! I did enjoy Angels & Demons and The Lost Symbol (I seemingly bypassed The Da Vinci Code thanks to the movie!)

It is truly awful. And I say this as someone who liked Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons.

I wasn't expecting high literature. Just a moderately credible plot.

Da Vinci Code's conspiracy was plausible. It was supported by loads of historical/art history facts (and Dan Brown wasn't the 1st to spot them).

Lost Symbol wasn't and that is where it failed. This book's plot is just laughable and there isn't even any mystery. Any "expert" should understand in a minute where "underground lagoon with columns" would be. I'm no expert but I knew as soon as I read that.

And the math is totally wrong. 1/3 of world population being infertile wouldn't mean a 1/3 decrease in future world population.
