I'm willing to read anything fiction or non fiction but I'm looking for as much as I can cram into 9 months of night feeds and insomnia.

Suggestions as to what I should read would be brilliant.

Just reading Buddhaland Brooklyn, a gentle novel, transporting the reader to the gentle slopes of rural Japan, through the eyes of a Buddhist priest. Enjoyable so far.

The Light Between Oceans by M L Stedman. Brilliant, just brilliant.

The Rules of Civility and Song of Achilles. For non fiction try the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding and Babycalming by Caroline Deacon Smile

I'm reading the Cazalet books. Sadly, DS has almost finished night feeding.

If you haven't read The Count of Montecristo or other Dumas stuff, try them.

And I read all of Dickens while BFing DD!

Momma Zen www.amazon.com/Momma-Zen-Walking-Crooked-Motherhood/dp/1590304616

The book has a hint of buddhism/meditation/zen concepts - but the book isn't about any of those things. The book is about motherhood.

I really liked it.

'A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian' is very funny:

My favourite book last year was The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh :)

I loved The River of No Return by Bee Ridgway - it's a page-turner, but romantic and lush too.

What sort of books do you normally read krypton? You might not get that much time to read at night if you are lucky. After the first few weeks me and dc2 learnt to feed lying down and she fed for 10 minutes only just don't ask me about DS..

The River of No return. A book to loose yourself in !

BumgrapesofWrath · 16/07/2013 10:12

Gone Girl

A Fraction of the Whole

The Help

The 100 yr old man

Found all these easy and enjoyable books to read whilst having a small baby to look after!

BumgrapesofWrath · 16/07/2013 10:13

Oh, and if you're breastfeeding, can I recommend The Politics of Breastfeeding

BlueChampagne · 17/07/2013 13:55

Jasper Fforde "The Eyre Affair"

Just finished reading Life after life by Kate Atkinson. Highly recommended.

Love From Both Sides by Nick Spalding. Easy to read and very funny.

katydid02 · 23/07/2013 22:40

Hugh Dennis wrote Britty Britty, it's good .

I can second 'A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian' and Marina Lewycka's other book 'We are All Made of Glue' if you are looking for something easy to read and pick up where you left off. Quite amusing also!

Xmasbaby11 · 01/08/2013 23:34

Lots of pacey thrillers - good suggestions above! Gone Girl and Before I Go to Sleep are perfect!

Hopefully the night feeds won't last 9 months, and I can promise your insomnia will vanish as soon as the baby arrives! I have never slept so well (when I had the chance) in my life.

ilovecolinfirth · 06/08/2013 14:42

I recommend short stories. Not usually a fan, but kept me company during the lonely night feeds. X
