World War Z - is it terrifying?

I saw the trailer for this at the cinema and it looked amazing, then a friend recommended the book which I didn't know existed. Is it really scary? I am interested in the Zombie genre but in reality I'm a bit of a wuss as 28 Days Later (the film) played on my mind for ages after.

I haven't seen the film (and don't intend to, as the trailer looked ridiculous) but I liked the book a lot. Not scary at all.

The trailer was terrible. Certainly I would never watch the film and the trailer is not an inspiration to pick up the book. I can only think that the book has to be better!

I didn't find it really scary, I'm not really into horror, but I did find it really interesting. Especially the beginning section, set in the present, when the zombies are able to spread. It's thought provoking. I've only ever seen the start of 28 Days Later, but the opening scenes of an empty London are classic, really eerie.

I thought the zombies seeming to swarm in the trailer looked great, not a fan of Brad Pitt though. I read about the book on wiki and can't get my head around zombies walking on the ocean floor. I'm going to have to read it aren't I?

I really enjoyed the book, I do like a good zombie story though.
I find I can read any book, even ones with spiders! and it doesn't get to me or upset/scare/bother me nearly as much as a film. I hardly ever watch scary films as I get nightmares, but with books I can sort of "not see" it iykwim so it doesn't upset me.
I can't remember anything particularly gory or horrifying in WWZ at all, it's cleverly written and actually has a pretty upbeat ending, where the army/authorities are fighting back against the Zombies and the worst is over so to speak.

I'm not into zombie fiction at all but loved the book of World War Z. It is a collection of documented stories from survivors of the zombie wars, and reads as both contagion stories (of zombie infection) and battle strategies (of the actual war). Very interesting to read and not terrifying at all.

The book is amazing - not scary but surprisingly moving and tragic in places. They've also recently re-recorded it as an audiobook with loads of famous actors which is also supposed to be great.

No, the book isn't that terrifying, which is imho its weakness. It's very interesting and thought provoking, but lacks any emotional involvement from the reader. It's a classic though, read it!

(28 days later is much scarier and hopeless)
