I love receiving a book at Christmas haven't had any this year (so farWink) so was hoping to live vicariously through mumsnetters. Have treated myself to the new Elly Griffiths in the kindle sale.

I've got the new Elly Griffiths on order from the library - looking forward to it!

I got : A Don's Life - Mary Beard - really enjoying it so far
Is it Just Me - Miranda H
Shadows Before the Sun - Kelly Gay (latest in an urban fantasy series I'm reading!)
Confessions of a Failed Southern Lady - Florence King

I am a happy bunny! Because I read a lot anyway my family never gave me books for Christmas when I was a child - they gave them to my DSis in the hope it would get her reading! I always wanted books though,so even now I'm pleased if at least one pressie is a book!

Fatal Colours sounds interesting, themumsnotroastingonanopenfire ,I've downloaded a sample to my Kindle...

I bought myself Bring Up the Bodies. I've been browsing the Kindle sale this morning to see if there's any little extras for me too.

OMG I got a late Christmas present today from my brother! A Kindle! Start me Kindling people. I've just got it up and running and downloaded a few free classics to it. What's the best way of browsing the Kindle store and has anyone got any good deals to recommend. Bearing in mind I got a large pile of paper books for Christmas so shouldn't spend a fortune on downloads.

Dailycheapreads,co.uk or ereaderiq. The 12 days of kindle sale is on at the moment with some cheap deals. The top 100 which you can access straight from the kindle often shows up the bargains. Also there's a daily deal. Wow I sound addicted.

The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry - Rachel Joyce
The Uncommon Reader - Alan Bennett
Mr Penumbra's 24 hour Bookstore - Robin Sloan
Y Byw Sy'n Cysgu (The Awakening) - Kate Roberts
Thanks for the Memories - Cecilia Ahern

Polished off the first 2 already, Harold Fry is brilliant. Not sure which one to pick next

Where the Bodies are Buried -Chris Brookmyre
Star Island - Carl Hiaasen
The Casual Vacancy
Bringing up the Bodies

Just finished reading 1st book and I really enjoyed it. Not the usual Brookmyre dark laugh out loud humour, a straight thriller.

the Miranda autobiography - read it in a couple of days and left it for my mum to read. Also got a Hugh F-W cookbook and the Great British Bake off Showstoppers. Made a recipe from the Hugh, but not made anything from the bakeoff yet - lots I fancy making though.

Very few books, I usually get quite a few more, but I do now have a Kindle. DC had about 30 books between them, and DS had about 20 for his birthday the week before - I'll probably read some of theirs too as I like to know what they are reading

The Seven Towers by Patricia Wrede, The Mislaid Magician by Patricia Wrede and Caroline Stevermer, and Odd Girl Out by Timothy Zahn - a fairly small haul from my massive Amazon list .. people never buy me books randomly unless they know me well

My DS1 bought me a couple of classics off my wishlist, Plutarch's On Sparta and Herodotus' Histories, MiL bought me this which is great for dipping into while in the smallest room :) She was bang on, I love the countryside and love reading.
