I'm wondering what books I should order from Amazon next. I've recently read Labyrinth by Kate Mosse and The Conjuror's Bird by Martin Davies - both of which I thought were OK but nothing too riveting.

Other books I have read recently are
Staying On by Paul Scott,
Hearing Birds Fly by Louisa Waugh
Hullabaloo in the Guava Orchard by Kiran Desai
The Mango Season by Amulya Malladi

I like travel writing, and I also like fiction about Asia, especially India. I did enjoy Labyrinth but I wouldn't rave about it.

HAs anyone got any suggestions as to what I should go for next? I'm currently reading The Constant Gardener. I haven't seen the film!

thanks

I do actually have a lot of books on my shelf that I haven't actually read yet, but somehow I don't seem to fancy starting them at the moment - I want new ones! That's awful isn't it?

I know how it is and once yu ge ton amazon its soo eay to order lots. A few months ago I did make myself read all mine before ordering more

Oh just thought have you read A suitable boy by Vikram Seth? great read

sarahinphuket · 14/04/2006 04:09

I have got halfway through A Suitable Boy. That is also on my shelf! The thing is that when I feel an Amazon order coming on, I have to order quite a few as its not worth just ordering one or two and getting them sent to Thailand!

OK so you have given me inspiration to get out at least two of the books that are gathering dust on my shelves....

Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts
It's very long, about an ex-con Heroine dealer who becomes a doctor on the Afghanistan border

Read it before it's made in to a film starring Johnny Depp

Just read About Grace by Anthony Doerr. Found it interesting/ thought-provoking. Set in the Caribbean and Alaska.

If you like books about Asia, I'd definitely go with melbob's suggestion of The Glass Palace - Amitav Ghosh. It's gorgeous.

Yes, the Glas Palace is fantastic.
Have also got the latest one, the Hungry Tide, but aven't read it yet.
