Terry Pratchett, are there any similar authors?

I absolutely adore all of Terry Pratchett's offerings, including his young reader collection.

I'm currently reading Dodger and have treated myself to 'The World of Poo', for my next read.

Can anyone suggest any other fantasy/ comedy authors that have a similar 'light, yet witty' feel? I'm getting ready to go into hospital to give birth and I'll be there a few days, so I'm looking for something I don't need to concentrate hard on & can pick up when I have a spare five mins (yeah, who am I kidding? Haha).

Sorry, that should be Ben Aaronovitch; a supernatural/magical branch of the Met should appeal if you like eg Guards, Guards.

Try Neil Gaiman who collaborated with Terry Pratchett on 'Good Omens' (which is a good read in itself). Neverwhere is my favourite of his but lots of people like American Gods.
I also recommend the Nightwatch books by Sergei Lukyanenko - suernatural going on in our world there.

Jasper Fforde is ace - I think he's the closest thing to TP.

I enjoyed the Lukyanenko books too, which is strange as I really don't usually do vampires

I was going to say Neil Gaiman and Robert Rankin. I think Rankin is hilarious and more laugh out loud funny than Pratchett, although not as clever.

I shall.try the other suggestions on this thread too. My kindle could do with some new books.

I've read Neil Gaimen and was also impressed with 'Good Omens'. I love Coraline but will definitely look at his other work.

Jasper Fforde will be the first of the suggested authors I'll be trying.
